Label Cover on Palmpad
« on: August 01, 2008, 05:13:14 PM »

A really stupid question. I just got my first X10 items to automate the great room. Plugged in an LM465 and a RR501, connected their respective lamps, swiped four AAA batteries for the Palmpad and they worked the first time. I'll swap out the wall switches for the lights and the fan tomorrow. But my stupid question is, how do I get the clear plastic cover over the Palmpad label to come off? I'm afraid I'll break it.

Thanks.

On mine [few years old don't think X10 has changed things  :'] At the top edge gently lift the cover up. Then work both sides free. Mine has four little bumps two on each edge that slip into small holes on the side of the front case.

Thanks, Brian H. I was afraid that the "brute force" approach might do more harm than good.

I was going to attach an Excel spreadsheet I threw together to print labels for the Palmpad, in case anyone else might find it useful. But the forum doesn't allow files with a .xls extension. I'll put it up on a website and post the link when I can.

Edit: Go here, http://home.comcast.net/~x10inmusiccity/_sgg/m1_1.htm, to download the spreadsheet.

There's also a label template in AHP.

Go to File/Print Labels.

However, it sometimes prints items in a way you may not want (it pulls its info direct from the AHP listing for a particular housecode) - it is not customisable...

Automation is great - but really frustrating when it doesn't work as expected !!

Yeah, I tried that feature and didn't like the way the labels looked. I wanted something a little more polished looking.
