Question on the Wireless Audio/Video Sender 5 in 1 remote

I received the 5 in 1 remote model #UR73A with my wireless audio/video sender model #VK82A and I can't make the remote work on the receiver end.  Do you set the codes to the TV and cable on the sender end?  That is what I did, but I can't control on the receiver end, please let me know if anyone has any words of wisdom as I can't make this work.
