As a former X-10 user, I thought I would be up and running easily with my new package. Not so fast. First of all, there was no software included. Ok, so I download from the site. No problem. Well, there was a problem. In the general download area, I downloaded active home software. Installed and of course it didn't work, being an older version of the software that worked with a unit that had a com port. After an hour of twiddling with this, I realized there was a problem. Nothing was working.
Ah, I needed to go to the secure link in the download area and use my order number to access the new software. Fine. Hmmm, where is that email...lost in a sea of spam. Found the email, finally. Downloaded the software, I think. Not sure if I'm getting all 5 software items included in the special offer, but we'll see. Ok, installing the proper software now, and, hmmm welll I think it went ok. Not sure what all I installed, but let's see. Ok, first thing, there's no desktop icon or any program group for it. Odd. Reinstall time. Ok, this time the program comes up, asking for registration codes! Registration codes? Wonder what those could be? Checked online forums and found what the code should be for me. Entered codes for the two requested items...code not found. GAAH!
(Code was accepted for the video module, which I can't use anyway because I don't have the camera. ) Let's see if tech support can supply me a working registration code. Ah, they can't on a Saturday, nobody working. I guess I'm stuck. I shouldn't be stuck. All hooked up, and nothing to do.
I haven't had this much fun since my new Dell arrived with Vista. Then again, it's now running with XP Pro, but that's another story...
