Utilize Firefly
« on: October 05, 2008, 01:36:00 AM »

Hi,

I am trying to use the SDK "ahcview" program to get keys pressed on the Firefly remote. The firefly remote is an X10 RF Reciever and I thought that it would show the commands in that program, however nothing shows up. I can use either the official firefly or the X10 drivers and it does not work. Both drivers properly install and show up in device manager as "Snapstream Firelfy" or "X10 Trans... (ACPI Compliant)". I have changed the batteries. The "send e8 on" button sometimes gives an error (with no description), but usually succeeds. Is the remote supposed to be on E8? What channel is the Firefly on? Is there a way to set it?

Firefly has it's own software, however it also insists on install a ton of other crap, is not very user friendly, and just a pain. I was hoping to be able to make my own small solution that simply translates the remote key presses to keyboard events (if I feel like it I will probably make it dependent on the foreground window).

If anyone can help me with this that would be awesome!

Thanks,
Jeff
