CM15A and Remote Controls
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:30:27 PM »

AHP will turn all my modules on or off from my computer, but I can't turn them on or off with my remote control (such as UR73A or the CR12A). My wireless wall switches and Active Eye motion sensors are also not working very well, unless I have a transceiver plugged in on the same housecode that they're on.

It doesn't make sense that I would have to get a separate transceiver for every housecode----I thought the CM15A was supposed to be enough! ??? :( :'(

Is this a range problem. Will they work in the same room as the cm15a?
Or is it that the CM15a is not set up to  transceive those house codes.

There is all kindas of post here to help the range issues with the cm15a.  Happy searching

Make sure the House Codes in use ate set to be transceived, in the AHP Hardware Configuration settings.
Poor range as indicated is a known problem. Many threads on how to improve it.
Some have even resorted to a third party all House Code transceiver by WGL. One model even can take a security code and turn it in to a standard X10 address for further use.

BirdzEye -  It's pretty easy to tell:  If the Activity Monitor shows the commands from your remotes, the CM15A is receiving them - As Brian H & jsnlong1979 said, the CM15A DOES have to be set to TRANSCEIVE whatever HouseCodes you're trying to control.

TroubleShoot:
1. Check that the CM15A is set to TRANSCEIVE the H/C.
2. Download to CM15A
3. USING AHP, turn a light on, then OFF.
4. Using a remote that is no more than 6" from the CM15A - try it again.
5. Check the Activity Monitor for the signal (and make sure it's the right address)
6. Let us know what happened.

I checked points 1 to 5 above, and everything is affirmative, including the activity monitor shows the signals, EXCEPT the cameras do not change pictures on the monitor when I use remote controls. The Mini Controller and the MiniTimer2 will change the pictures BUT NOT THE FRIGGIN REMOTE CONTROLS---- ??? :( ???

Sounds like the CM15A's power line signal may not be reaching the camera's addressable power supplies. Will one of the Mini Timer or Mini Controller units; control the cameras when  the exact outlet the CM15A is connected to is used?

The CM15A power line signal IS reaching the camera's addressable power supply because I can turn cameras on and off from my AHP software. It's the REMOTE CONTROL that won't work (unless I have a transceiver plugged in as well).

Are all of the cameras on the same house code and block of four unit codes? Like Unit 1-4;5-8;9-12 or 13-16?

Is this right?
AHP will control cameras AND #4 above is true for a light, but NOT the cameras? and everything is on the same house code? and it works when you plug in a TM751?  ???

OK I'll try to explain this one last time.

1. AHP is set to transceive 2 housecodes, D and G, and this has been downloaded into CM15A
2. D is for lights, and G is for cameras
3. I can control everything perfectly from my computer AHP software---on and off for everything works from the computer software.
4. If I don't have TM751 plugged into an electrical outlet, then my CR12A and UR73A will not turn modules on or off for either of those housecodes, even though the signal is showing up in the Activity Monitor for AHP when I press buttons on either remote.
5. If I plug the TM751 into an electrical outlet and set it to say, Housecode D for lights, then I CAN use either remote control to turn modules on or off for that housecode. The remote will not work for housecode G.
6. I repeat: unless the TM751 is plugged in and set to one of the housecodes I'm using, REMOTES will not work.

That's how it is.

Could this be a phase issue? If your plugging the TM751 into another outlet... on the other phase... that could explain the results. If that is the case you could try moving the CM15A to the "other outlet"... maybe using an extention cord if needed.

But I can control everything from my computer software without the TM751 plugged in . It's just the remotes that seem to be dependent on the TM751 in order to function properly.

Your right!

Then you may want to try a complete "batterys removed and unplugged" clearing of the CM15A. To be sure the setting are actually being set.

I solved the problem, but I didn't hafta remove the batteries; I had to fix my macros. It's sort of complicated, and AHP seems to be very temperamental.

Because I have some non-x10 cameras plugged into appliance modules, I had to make a macro for each camera that would turn the non-x10 camera off when the x10 is being viewed and vice versa, and also turn off the x10 receiver when non-x10 cam is on, and vice versa.

If you have the TM751 plugged in and on the same housecode as the cameras, then you don't have to specify in each camera's macro to turn the camera ON in addition to turning off the cameras you don't want to view, but this is only IN ORDER FOR THE REMOTE TO WORK and turn on the camera you want to view. At least this is how it is with my setup....

*sigh*
