Are you suppose to leave the clear "cap" over the lense?

I know yo have to take it off to focus the camera, but are you suppose to leave them on?

they are used for outside installations.  if they are inside, take them off.  outside, put them on.  helps keep the rain and snow from getting to your camera insides.  hope this helps
