X10 and SmartHome Keypadlinc
« on: January 10, 2009, 07:47:13 PM »

Looking for an add-on that will send an on/off signal to my Keypadlinc. The problem I have is when I turn on an x10 switch locally
the Kekpadlinc button dose not light up. I am using the Keypadlinc as a monitor station for my x10 switches.
Any ideas??

Most X10 switches are not two way devices. They transmit no signals when turned on or off locally. So the KeypadLinc will see no power line signals to react to.
The Insteon and Icon switches if they have an X10 Address in them do send an on or off when turned on and off. DIM and Bright from them may not work correctly with an X10 module as I believe they send a % of Dim signal when released. Most X10 modules react to a stream of dim and bight commands on their House Code after being addressed.

Leviton also makes "Decora" style switches that will transmit status.  An example is the high-end HCM06-1TW that also includes a LED brightness indicator.  These are often available on eBay for a fraction of the normal price.
