rr501 stops working after few tries with ss13a
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:30:58 PM »

Hi, just received three ss13a switches with rr501 receiver. I have rr501 set on A1, tried two ss13a's also set on A1. If I plug in RR501 the switch is able to control the appliance hooked up to rr501, and it responds to X10 signals on A1 also. This lasts maybe 20 secs and then RR501 becomes unresponsive to X10 and RF until I unplug it and plug it in again. I wrote the seller, is it defective or is there something I'm missing?

Thank you
Misha

Is this all your X10 stuff? Is there any other automation in your house?

Have other X10 stuff that works fine. But even not using X10 (just rf signals from ss13a directly to rr501 directly to appliance that is plugged into rr501 module) it stops working, that's why I don't think it's an X10 thing but a bad rr501 thing (there's no X10 power line signal I can't imagine from an SS13a that is directly telling rr501 turn off or turn on over RF and it does to the appliance attached - I tried to make it as simple as possible to troubleshoot the problem).

Thanks
Misha

p.s. I have a bunch of lamp modules, switches, an appliance module, a CM11A, and a dryer thing (forget what its called not an amplifier a repeater maybe).

I suspect the RR501 is defective.   I have two in use, one on Housecode A and one on housecode F.  Both are receiving RF signals from SS13a's with ZERO problems and AHP sees the proper status.

I was thinking maybe there is another transceiver that is sending the RF or powerline signal again...I know the RR501 receives powerline signal also so might be getting confused...but again the rr501 should not get confused  rofl

What software do you use for the CM11A? there isn't any macro's that you have sending the A1 command again is there?

I take it you don't have another RR501 to switch it with?

Sounds like it is defective. Is it used to receive any commands for different addressed X10 units and do they also stop working?

That was my first try and it was not working well for me (worked a couple of times but I did not test extensively as it did not work for other X10 modules mostly and plus I have my X10s on house code M so I was trying to make it really simple keeping everything on A)
