WS467 wall switch and CM15a with Active Home Pro
« on: February 21, 2009, 12:34:30 PM »

Hi,

Sorry about the newbie question...

I have multiple WS467 switches. a CM15a and Active Home Pro.

I can control the WS467 from ActiveHome (CM15A) no problem.  I've setup Timers and Macros and all is good.

However, I want to be able to turn all my outside lights on via a WS467 thats located near my front door (all my other outside lights are controlled by other WS467 switches which are located somewhere else).

Is it possible to have the WS467 near my front door send a signal to my CM15a to start a macro that turns on my outside lights?

thanks,
ozecho ???

No A WS467 is a one way device. It only can receive X10 power line signals. It has no transmitting circuitry in it.
There are controllers that mount in a wall switch box. Need a Neutral power wire besides the Line and Load.

Thanks Brian.  Bummer.

I also have some SS13a switches, and they work fine, however, my front door is far enough away from the CM15a that it doesnt work to signal the CM15a.

What could I do (apart from moving the CM15a) to increase the range?

Would buying a receiver module and plugging it in closer to the front door work?  would it pass the signal to the CM15a to start the macro?

Thanks again,
Ozecho

ps:  If buying a receive module would work, what model would I need?

CM15A is known for short range. There is a number of improvements, one as simple as wrapping a longer wire around the CM15A antenna. Other solutions more complicated like hacking the CM15A to put an external antenna on it.

Search the forum for "range" for suggestions.
