Driveway Sensor Plus
« on: May 10, 2009, 02:45:17 PM »

I am new to programming x10.  I just bought a Driveway Sensor Plus package.  The package includes:

1 Socket Rocket (LM15A)                    - Controls outside light (A2)
1 EagleEye Motion Sensor (MS14A)            - Turns on outside light and activate the sensor chimes (A2)
1 Sensor Chime (SC546)                         - chime (A2)
2 Slimline Switch Decorator White (SS13A) - two switches, same programming 1 - inside light 2 - outside light
1 Small Wireless Transceiver (TM751)        - Controls inside light (A1)

My goal was to have the motion sensor turn on the outside light and chime when there is company.

Problem -
Every time I turn the outside light on with the switch the chime goes off.  Is there away to program around this problem with my current x10 products?

The motion sensor doesn't seem to work well outside.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Sometimes it sends the signal and other times it does not.  The range is maybe 5 feet.   B:(

Since the Chime Module and Socket Rocket are on the same address. The inside switch sending the A2 to turn on the outside light. The chime module will also sound. Just like when the motion sensor sends the A2 On both the light and chime should sound.
Is the motion sensor mounted on metal. That can effect the range as can obstacles between them.

No. Not with your current product mix. As Brian pointed out, your chime and light share the same address. When you use a remote to turn ON the light, the chime will ring also. You need to put your light and chime on different addresses and use something like AHP and the CM15A to turn them ON when the motion sensor fires.

Neuron just fired! If you did not want to go down the Home Automation road with the CM15A you could always get a second motion sensor and mount it next to you present motion sensor. Have one motion sensor address to the light and the second sensor addressed to the chime. Now if you turn on light with a remote the chime will not ring since it is on a different address.

If I remember my X10 ad's correctly... the "Driveway Sensor Plus" included the smart macros software. It would be an excellent upgrade for original AHP purchasers... that haven't added smart macros yet.

Yep... I just saw it in a new newsletter myself. And it has no AHP or smart macros software.
