Re-install over existing?

I had ActiveHome (old serial interface version) installed.
Then I installed ActiveHome Pro 3.236 + Smart Macros, iWatchOut, MyHouse Online, and OnAlert.
Noticed some errors on installation, but the product looks like it installed and starts up (for the most part).
Could have been caused by my active firewall (Kaspersky Internet Security), or something else.

Can I reinstall everything right over the current installation, or should I uninstall everything first?

I would have backed up my files, uninstalled the old version then installed the new version and then merged the old files in.

Did you change the interface when you changed the software?  Activehome and Active Home Pro are not interchangeable with the same interface.

On the other note, I have had botched installs before.
Remote control is cool,
but automation rules!

My old serial interface controller continues to send x10 signals faithfully (many years now).
But the PC that had its ActiveHome software is gone forever.

I installed ActiveHome again on a new PC, hoping to use the old controller, because I did not want to buy the CM15A USB version.
Then I decided to just buy the USB version and use the new software.

I don't really need to migrate any settings.
I plan to set up from scratch and retire the serial controller.
I don't know if my AHP 3.236 software is installed properly. Any way to verify?
I think the antivirus caused the install problems.

Reinstalled all the software (exited firewall/antivirus software).
No installation issues this time.

But when I plug in the CM15A:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it..."
My PC is not recognizing this new CM15A B:(

open the task manager and shut down x10nets.exe then install this version.
http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/ahp_updt_204.exe

After it installs it will say there is an update available. Go ahead and do it. It will put you at 3.228 which is the latest "good" version.

Oh, have the USB cable disconnected from the CM15A until its all done.

I got a "X10 Module has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." when trying to stop the x10 service.

But I managed to follow your steps above, and it looks like it works now.
I'm re-programming the timers of the couple of modules I use.

Now I need to locate the old serial interface controller and unplug it.

Thanks!

So whats the problem with version AHP 3.236?
That was the software version link X10 e-mailed me.

That's the version I got also and it's buggy. I did the downgrade to 3.228 and it's been working fine since. With 3.236 I was getting modules turning on for no reason, macros running but not doing all the steps and I only have like 7 macros programmed so far so it's not being over loaded. I just started this just over a week ago and I was having to close and restart the program and clear the CM15A and reload it every day. I went to 3.228 and it's been running solid for 3 days now.
