With one of the commercial systems when someone breaks in they delay notification for someone to enter a code.  I don't think X-10's have a delay and and don't see any reference to entering a code.  Am I right in that X-10 systems go off immediately but if you go to the console you can just push disarm and it's off.  So I'd kinda have to hide the console to allow time for it to make the calls.

X10 can arm with a delay... if you arm the console with a delay... you need the PalmPad sized security remote to arm with a delay. If you carry the pocket sized remote... you can disarm from ether inside or outside. There is never a need to rush to the console.

Your right, I missed that there is no disarm on the console.  I can still see two mods I'd have to do before I'd want it.

1st, I found where someone extened the leds so they could insure it was armed when they pressed the arm button.

2nd, I'd want to disable the internal siren on it so it doesn't give it's location away before it has a chance to call me.

I might even have to get the software and using macros and the home automation motion detectors email me if someone is in the yard.  Then the security system can call me on my cell if the house is actually entered.

Most break-ins happen around here in the middle of the day although I was awoken one night about 10 years ago by my outdoor motion activated lights coming on.  I figured it was an animal but got up and peeked out the window.  To my surprise I saw a guy that had been hiding behind a tree step out.  I banged on the window and he took off.  I called the police but he was long gone.  About that time we had a rash of car break-ins during the night.

Recently we've been seeing a rise in work time break-ins around here.

1.  The console chimes... and if you use the "delay"... you will hear it chime away before you leave the house.
2.  You may want to look at the "3 for 1 extra large powerhorn deal". They will MORE than cover the internal siren noise.

I borrowed (copied) an idea from forum member knightrider: The doorbell camera. Press my doorbell button... and your picture is emailed to me. Using AHP, X10 cameras, the video adapter, and a cable broadband connection keeps me covered. I've even gone a tad further with an outside voice warning. I've posted this on YouTube. If I have the TV on when the cameras are triggered... the video is also shown on the TV.

Thanks, I've got some more thinking to do but, do the security motion detectors talk to the tm751 or only to the PS561?

The TM751 does not process RF security messages; only standard X10 RF messages.

Of course Brian H is correct. But we should also mention that the DS7000 alarm console (PS561) also works as a TM751. It will transceive regular X10 RF signals to PLC (power line commands) so if you have the alarm... you can also control some lights and such.
