PAT01 vs TW523
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:52:40 PM »

Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to build a voice controlled system. I have a voice module and micro picked out. and i plan on wirelessly sending to the x.10 code to either the PAT01 or the TW523 serially then having the controller talk to the light modules. I was was wondering if anyone had some words of wisdom or had preference which he or she liked to work with better. does the PAT01 have a radio protocol or can i just send bits to it i cant find a lot of info on it. and then i've read that the tw523 is difficult to work with due to the timing issues. but i havnt talked to anyone personally about it so im not very sure...

thanks!

I use Bill's Voice Commander Software (BVC) with X10's AHP with the CM15A interface. And I have complete Voice Control and Voice announcements.

TW523 {X10Pro PSC05} requires you to do all the X10 encoding from scratch. As all it does is have a Opto Isolated set of inputs and outputs that are Current Driven. Not serial. You have to do the command encoding and timing of the transmission with the Zero Crossing as the start.

The PAT01 {X10 RR501} takes an X10 RF command and tranceives that command to a power line signal. To control an addressed X10 module.

You can find users instructions for the X10Pro versions here:
http://www.x10pro.com/

X10 Models here:
http://www.x10.com/support/support_manuals.htm
Near the bottom of the X10 Manuals list is the TW523 interface protocol and I believe the RF Protocol also.
