E5 on causes C6 off??
« on: December 09, 2009, 07:37:37 AM »

anyone seen this one?  ver 3.326, win7 64b:

When I issue a simple E5 ON, I get it and then immediately an E6 OFF.

Conversely, when I issue a simple E5 OFF, I get it and then immediately an E6 ON.

no marcos, nothing.  Just flip sw in a lite module in a room in ahp.

I tried removing batts and powering down for 5 minutes and sending same and it still does it

I tried clearing memory and it still does it.  javascript:void(0);

I can't seem to get this to stop.  Any ideas? ???

Don't forget to delete the contents of your trash/recycle bin in AHP. Old macros and triggers can be a problem.. even from there. You may want to triple check your rooms, and macros, and timers... I would.. as well as [check] other computers (tools/find other computers) to see if those codes are being used somehow.

I would also completely clear the CM15A... after clearing it normally... I'd remove it from the power and USB as well as remove the batteries. Then reload it and try again.

In your activity monitor, check to see if the CM15A is sending or receiving the unexpected E6 commands. If it is receiving, then the problem is most likely coming from an external source.

THANKS FOR ideas.

I DID completely delete old program thru tools menu, then unplugged, took ALL batts out (left them out for 3 hours this time) put back in, and it does exactly the same thing still!  didn't even reload my program yet.  here is monitor starting with E5 off in ahp room screen and then clicking it ON then back off:

in case that did not show up:
xmit     E5
xmit     E On
rcv RF  C6 Off
rcv       C6
then I shut it off:
xmt     E off
rcv RF  C6 On
rcv      C6
rcv      C On

Crazy!  Yes, it says it is Receiving RF but what sends RF other than eagle eyes?

What remote are you using? Could you try another?

Remotes can send RF.

So can the CM15A itself as it also has an X10 Transmitter in it.

Any of the USB Transceivers in the setup?

I send the C5 by clicking on lite sw in ahp & watch activity monitor see it and then the E6 bit, so not using a remote....  maybe I should try sending the E5 on with a remote instead... wait one... turns C5 on only - works.  try sw in ahp again - also works now!  wtf??

It is now just turning on/off C5 and not messing with E6 like it has for the last month!  I did make some minor other changes to other rooms but nothing with either of these codes used.  I even checked this problem right after making the little changes last night and C5 still made E6 go.  well guess it is a case of "don;t look a gift horse in the mouth."  I will accept it again and not look back.  wierd.

thanks for all the comments and ideas.

PERHAPS IT is time to swap out both module and eagle eye - good thought - thanks.

it came back and is here again.

I'm confused.
Is it E5/E6, or is it E5/C6?

If is IS E5/E6, perhaps you have a day/night sensor on E6, and that senses the light coming on, thinks it is day, and turns it off?

Since it is receiving an RF signal back, perhaps one of your neighbors has X10, and has a macro for those addresses.

sorry for the confusion, I did mess up and say E5 causes E6.  I am trying again right now:

-  E5 ON (from ahp room sw icon) causes E5 ON then also immediately C6 OFF in activity monitor.
-  E5 OFF (from ahp room sw icon) causes E5 OFF then also immediately C6 ON in activity monitor.

No neighbors within range (we are in log home 1/2 mile off street & own the house next door)

I have transceived codes set to NONE in hardware configuration as I instead use a V572RF32.

If I unplug V572RF32 from PCS05 line transceiver (so the rcvd code does not go to line) C6 still happens, so it is not coming thru V572 module.

If I unplug coax (to external antenna) on CM15a, most of the time C6 does not get received;  so it IS coming in the CM15 via antenna.

If I leave CM15 ant off & plug V572 back in, I get C6 again consistently - as Recieve not Receive RF - as expected.  So the C6 IS being generated somewhere!
(I need my CM15 antenna so my DS10 security door & window switches work).

I have no macros triggering on E5;  it is simply a flour decorator wall sw.

First I must say impressive amount of troubleshooting tests.

It looks like the E5 is causing some device to send a C6 RF signal as the tests indicate is happening.

Can you tell us what devices you have; that can send an RF signal.
You mentioned DS10 security door and window sensors. Is there a security console in the mix?

I know the CM15A can send an RF signal but being so close to the internal receiver. I would think if it was sending the C6 even with the CM15A receiver antenna disconnected it would be seen in the Activity Monitor.

thanks.  wish I could fix it tho.

Only RF xmtrs I know of are the eagle eyes around, the cm15, and the v572 (its just a recvr tho doesnt rexmt I dont think).  have 2 smart repeaters (PCS01 or some wuch) that do rexmt but they are unplugged on the shelf in the workshop.

I've not a clue where this is coming from!  but it is consistent as my alarm clock!

Sounds like a real mystery. I have a few more questions:

1. What does E5 control?
2. What other X10 devices are in the room / location where E5 is located?
3. Do you have anything on C6?
4. Do you have anything on housecode C at all?

1.) E5 lite in my workshop;  C5 is motion sensor there
2.) D5 is DS10 door sw, G5 is camera in workshop
3.) C6 is likewise motion sensor - in my warehouse.  Here, G6 is camera, D6 is DS10 door sw, E6 is the lite
4.) u can see I use C's (C1-C10) as motion sensors in different areas.  Likewise same number per area for G cameras, D for doors, E for lites.

So the extra RF 'motion' command messes up another room lites and macros bad.
