Running V3.228 but can't get timers to work. Help please
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:10:29 PM »

Hi,

I actually have it documented at my other thread but probably best to put it here since this is the right subforum to seek help on AHP.

Here's the link to the thread:  http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=19297.0

As noted on the subject, I can't get timer to work on .228.

Attached is a screenshot of what I've done.

I created two test modules for the same AM466 appliance module.  I did two different modules to see if either would work.  Both will turn on and off the lamp attached to the AM466 if that is what you mean by clicking on the On button.  However, neither timer assigned to each work. :(

Any suggestions for me to try would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of completely uninstalling but how do you do that since it doesn't have an unistall feature or even show up on the Control Panel?

A single timer for 2 identical modules with the same address?  What's the load you are using them for?

Hi Dan,

Sorry all the historical info is in the other thread.

I loaded V2.204, then upgraded to V2.228.

I installed the plug-ins (iWatchout, OnAlert, MyHouse, SmartMacros) from the V2.236 sent to me by X10.

Installing the plug-ins upgraded AHP to V2.236 automatically.

So, I reverted to V2.228 again.  I didn't know how to uninstall AHP and plug-ins so I simply ran V2.204 and the update file to return to V2.228.

It now is back to .228 but still with all the plug-ins.

I have a simple test I'm running right now.  An incandescent lamp plugged into an AM466 3 pin appliance module.

I can turn it on and off by clicking the on/off switch with the mouse.

But the timer has no effect on it.

So, instead of just one, I started playing with a few test cases including two logical modules with the same address (even though physically there really is only one module).

Is the OnAlert and iWatchout causing the problem since they carry drivers meant for AHP V2.236?

Maybe I'm just really missing the boat on this simple exercise.

What should be a 5 minute test has turned into a 3 hr ordeal.  :(

And to think, I have a full suite of equipment coming and I can't even operate a lamp with a timer.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's probably because of 3.236.  It's buggy!!  Too many people have tried it or got stuck with it since X10 is sending it out to new purchasers.

What plug-ins did you get?

Plug-ins came with AHP:  iWatchout, OnAlert, SmartMacros, MyHouse.

Once I figure out how to uninstall AHP and the plug-ins completely, I think I'll just install V2.228.

Anyone have a copy of the pre V2.236 plug-ins?

Would appreciate it if you can share it.

Thanks,

All right.   After about 4 hrs of troubleshooting, I finally fixed it.

How? ... do you ask.

I was getting ready to do a brute force uninstall by doing a global deletion of any and all X10 files including a registry sweep when it occurred to me that I haven't done one thing I normally do when something is not operating properly.

It's about the old adage that says "If all else fail, reboot".

Well, guess what?  After a computer reboot, the timer magically works.

Geez. I should have done that right after the AHP reinstallation.

Oh well.  Chaulk that up to a lesson learned for AHP.

Dave_x10_L is correct.  X10 may say it only takes 5 minutes to set it up.  But in reality, it takes a little more than that and then some.

Onward we go.

Thanks,

I have my outside lights on timer.  When I click "all off" on a controller, the outside lights are turning off.  I am running 3.228.  This did not used to happen.  Any ideas?  Thank you!

What kind of controller?   Plus when you use a controller, it overrides any AHP timers.  That's always the rule.

When I click "all off" on a controller, the outside lights are turning off.

This is a good thing... as long as the controller and the lights are on the same house code that is.

If this really is your problem, please expand on it and provide more details. Including the connection between the timer and the controller.
