New User - First Snag (Motion Sensor Macro)
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:56:08 AM »

I am a new user to X10 products and have not had any problems setting up my modules w/timers and using AHP. However, I am having the following problem with the conditions shown as follows:

Entrance Area
A5 (Entrance Switch - Wall Switch Module WS467)
A6 (Entrance Sensor - EagleEye Sensor MS14A)
A6 (Smart Macro 1 - not yet working properly)
(Note: I want a macro that is triggered by my entrance sensor to turn On/OFF my porch light. It must also be able to shift to MANUAL mode (without being triggered by the sensor or macro) vice-versa)
A5 works from AHP when manually (@ computer) turning light on and off.
Motion Sensor triggers the Macro within AHP screen showing that the A5 is changed from off to on, but the light physically remains off.
What am I missing in my setup? Common sense and logic are failing me.

Hopefully there is an easy quick revision to what I have already done.

We would probably have to see the actual macro.  We have no idea what your macro contains.

The following are my settings on the macro designer screen:
Macro Name: Front Porch Motion/Trigger: A6/Radio Button: On/Macro Resides In: Foyer
Timeline Items: Module (F Porch Lt Switch)

As previously stated, I can turn the light on and off from the computer in AHP.
When the motion sensor senses motion the switch on the computer screen turns from off to on. But the light on the porch does not light.

I have saved the macro and downloaded timers and macros.

In the macro designer, does the "Trigger A6" (A6 assigned to my motion detector and the macro) mean that when my motion detector senses motion it should trigger the light to come on?

I would change one of them to a different house and unit code.  And try that.

Dutchboy: Try this first to get your lights to come on via the sensor trigger macro Timer turns off but not on

How do you want it to know what mode to be in?

Puck, that appears to have done the trick. I did the following:

Under the Tools tab,/Click on "Preferences" >> "Macro Options"/Check the little box that says "Issue 'On' in place of bright 100%

I don't know how I would have ever found that without the forum's support.

I thought (hoped) that the setting on the motion sensor would turn the light off. It appears that this is not the case. Do I need to add a step to the macro to turn the lights off after a specified period of time?

Thanks a million

I added a 5 minute delay to the macro and a step to turn off the lights in the foyer. It worked like a charm.

Whenever the motion sensor and the light are on 2 different addresses, you have 2 options:

1) not only do you need an ON macro, but an OFF macro as well
-or-
2) as you have done.. a time delay within the ON macro to turn the light off
