Nasty Noise Source Identified
« on: April 08, 2010, 01:30:37 PM »

FWIW

I have a friend and long time X10 user who moved into a new home and has a flourescent ceiling light fixture in the kitchen that when on, will kill X10 transmissions throughout the house.

The light has a GE electronic ballast:

GE PROLINE T8

Hi Performance Electronic Ballast

Model #  GE-432-120-N-84T

This is just a "For What Its Worth" piece of information, and because of the amount of noise (enough to cripple all X10 transmissions throughout the home) the ballast could have a defective filter.

Thanks for the data.
I have already documented my LED bulb that causes an XTBM to read full scale noise. Mine is so strong some noise gets trough an XPPF and Smarthome FilterLinc.

If it was made in China. I would not be surprised if it has no filter.  ;)
