Hello,
Looking for some help to get voice control to work on my laptop using BVC.
It only has a mic and earphone jacks ... no line input.
Most of the posts seem to say that I can't use the "baby monitors".
Have trained it with a headset mic and it work fairly well but I want something else with more coverage area.
Anyone using a laptop?

Thanks for the help ;-)

Most laptops are limited. But you may be able to find a USB external sound Card (I am not sure the link I provided will be suitable).

The microphone input [option] has a built-in autogain. So as the microphone waits and listens for commands... it will continue to raise the volume... till conversational speech is no longer recognizable to the computer.

Dave,
This usb device doesn't have a line in...
Looks like I'm up the creek without a device to propel me anywhere ;-(
I really need to use a laptop so I can move it to different location (compact) area in the house and I like the low power consumption for running 24/7.
Still open for ideas ;-)

Well I didn't mean for the link be a suggested item (that's why I included a disclaimer). I just gave you my search term. USB sound cards with line-in inputs are out there. I've just never used one myself... so I have no recommendation(s) for you (sorry).

But if you insist.. here I think this one will work fine (it does require USB 2). But if it doesn't fill-the-bill... geeks.com is someplace I purchased from and they are nice to work with if you need to return it.

Hey... were all in this together.

Dave,
Thanks for the link...
I buy stuff from them all the time ... didn't think of them ... I have a usb2 card on order so when it comes, then I can get a "monitor" as well and get "talking".
