MS 16a to TM751 transceiver max distance?
« on: August 05, 2010, 08:55:55 AM »

What is the maximum distance that I can place the TM751 from the MS 16a motion detectors?

We cannot tolerate the annoying clicks.

(The 3 AM's will be located out of hearing range)

I see several possibilities:

1.  Remove/disconnect the (unused) latching relay from the TM751.  (Is there a link?)

2.  Place the TM751 in the garage if the MS 16a signals will reach it.

3.  If 2. fails can we increase the range by lengthening the antenna?

Crawling along, hopefully to success.

Maximum distance is dependent on the exact installation.
If there is metal and such between them the distance maybe fairly short. Few obstructions and the distance maybe greater.
Actual test maybe needed in your installation.

Mounting a motion sensor on a metal surface will make it a very short distance. Its antenna is on the PC Board that is close to the mounting plane.

Not using the Unit Code 1 also will stop the clunk.

Lengthening your antenna(s) can be tricky.  The length is tuned to the frequency sent/received.

Passive antenna modification.

I have read good reports from this method.
