Incandescent Bulbs still made in USA
« on: May 15, 2011, 01:29:51 PM »

Many seem to think that the closing of the last GE incandescent light bulb factory in this country meant that incandescent light bulbs were no longer made here. That is not true because Osram Sylvania (foreign parent company) still makes incandescent and halogen light bulbs at their plant in St. Mary's, PA. Of course U. S. law will prohibit standard 100 watt incandescents from being manufactured or imported next year and the prohibition (except for some specialty bulbs) will be extended to all common size standard incandescent light bulbs by Jan. 1st 2014. Fortunately for the plant in St. Mary's the halogen SuperSaver light bulbs made there will still be legal at least through 2019.
