CM15A and SH10A
« on: June 22, 2011, 07:47:03 PM »

Why is the SH10A not working with the outdoor motion sensor?
If I close the light switch on module LM465 in activepro it works.

Why is the SH10A not working with the outdoor motion sensor?
If I close the light switch on module LM465 in activepro it works.

From the SH10A instructions:
5. To trip the SH10A from any X10 controller (if you hear a strange noise at
night, for example): Press Unit Code-ON, then Unit Code-OFF, then Unit
Code-ON, repeatedly. The SH10A will sound for as long as you keep
pressing ON and OFF and will stop a few seconds after you stop pressing
buttons. Or press Unit Code-ON and hold the button pressed for a few
seconds. Or press All Lights On, then All Units Off, repeatedly.
6. You can use the SH10A as an annunciator: Press Unit Code-ON, on any
X10 Controller and then press Dim or Bright. You will hear a ding or a dong
for each button press.

#6 might explain how AHP is trigering the SH10 as a LM465.
The motion sensor sends a simple ON-OFF so you need to make a macro to meet the criteria in #5.
Or do you have "OnAlert" ?

The SH10 can not be triggered by a simple On command.
It needs a constant one second cycle of On and Off signals to its address to trigger it. A one second cycle of All Lights On and All Units Off to the House Code it is set to will also trigger it.

dave w already pointed out the ding dong feature for you.

So a simple On from a motion sensor will not make the siren trigger. You need to generate the one second On Off cycle.

Better way to go maybe a SC546 Chime Module. It sounds with a simple On command.
