varations on a theme
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:56:25 PM »

Ok, so my searching chops are not what they were.

Can ANYONE help.

I've gone through a reinstall (228) of the application on a win 98 (yea I know not the latest or greatest but in the supported os list).
I rebuilt the modules, queues and macros.

Then nothing worked, so I have been "tinkering" with it and HERE is where I need help.

Lets say I have a 3 prong appliance module and it's attached to a 60 watt incandescent table lamp 4 feet from the CM15a.
Now, I set the module up in AHP (228) as "O13" and hit the soft switch, lamp on, lamp off, just like it is supposed to work.
Now I set up a timer, lets say on at 9:00 pm and off at 9:15 pm.
When 9:00 pm comes along nothing. I hit the soft switch and lamp on, lamp off, just like expected.
HERE IS WHERE I NEED SOME HELP UNDERSTANDING!!!
SO, I change the module code to say "O4".
The soft switch works AND the timer works set for 9:00 pm.
Wow, ok so that is some progress.
Now I change another from "N13" to "N04" and... nothing.
So I try it again and change it to "C12" and all the sudden, the timer works great and it's lights on / lights off  just like the Karate Kid, 1st show.

Just so we don't waste time, all channels are used.
I checked the find computers and there are no computers in the new slots used.
The worst is there is no pattern like, any address under 6 or X2 progression of even numbers.
I'm at a loss and not  really looking forward to hearing "try every combination".

Have you ever heard of this, has anyone heard of this.
If so how was it resolved or if you can tell me a good search chain to find information that would help too.
Thanks

Ok, I'll bite:
1) Why you are using version 3.228, which was released on 5/9/2008, instead of using version 3.315, which was just released a few weeks ago.

2) Have you made sure that the time AND the Time Zone, both in AHP's "Hardware configuration" and on the Pc itself, are correct?

3) Is the timer set to "Store in Interface"? Did you download the changes to the CM15A after you made them?

4) Did you look in the Activity Monitor to see what is happening when the timer is supposed to be sending commands?

5) There may be other devices in your home that are creating noise, or sucking up the signal. If the module is getting a marginal signal already, then changing the housecode/unit code, which causes AHP to generate a different signal, might make the problem better or worse (as it mixes with the noise that may already be on your line).
