AirPad Camera issue!
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:15:31 PM »

I'm not one for using a web cam and this cam has me stumped!
I can take snap shots and video fine.
The issue is everything is reverse it's like looking in a mirror.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Maybe it is the app included with the 002 rom ???
I never noticed this with my first couple of pics as they were just of me looking at the airpad.
Once I started to snap some pics at the cottage it was like I was looking at a different place! rofl

I just tried it. Lol. That is funny.

I put a book in front of my laptop webcam and I can read the cover on the LCD screen. I put the same book in front of the Airpad and it's like looking in a mirror.

When you use the camera it looks like the LCD is on the wrong side. If you could somehow see the LCD from the back then it looks like it would be normal. But the picture it snaps is mirrored. heh.

Is anyone else experiencing this that didn't change their ROM or changed to 004? ???

You are not alone. My images are reversed. I found out after taking a photo of a white-board having a list of numerical financial decisions to evaluate. Photoshop was able to flip it to normal but I was not able to do that until many hours later.  I needed to verbally dictate the text in the backward image while my assistant typed it. Inconvenient. Wonder how Google Goggles recognition app (e.g. for signs) might be affected?

While looking at other camera apps that might have a flip option I discovered there are many mirror apps.
Maybe we should look at this as a bonus app rofl

I've had no luck getting barcode scanner apps to work. I guess this is probably why?

Adobe Photoshop Express for android is a free download on the market.  The flip function is easy once you find it is under the edit-crop menu.  It's a low priority for artsy-images (for me) but a high priority for text that may separately be processed with OCR.  I'm sticking with a phone for barcode scanning, if needed.   Would seem the flip function is something to eventually get straighten out.

My 7p is on it's way back to X10 because I lost audio to the speaker.
I'm new to android, but what about trying an external camera?

Just wondering if anyone found a technical fix for the flipped photo image or is this going to be the way it is forever with the earlier APs?

I'm waiting to see if x10 fixes it with the ICS build.
