outdoor motion sensor Eagle eye
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:40:04 PM »

Good friends x10
Although no response is received and all issues will bring a new query in hopes to give me a solution.

I purchased an outdoor motion sensor Eagle eye, I want to use in the bathroom of the residence.

I want the light up from turning only at night and when there is someone in the room, the problem is that it turns on but goes out while people in the bathroom. Leaving the bathroom in the dark.

One configuration used is off, on three seconds, I hope ccodigo and notify the program, 1 default, 2, 3.4 and does not work. I've tested four configurations and nothing, the lights go out while the person inside ...
Thanks and I hope I can help. B:(

Are you using the Eagle Eye to control the light directly with a module or do you have a program with interface like AHP?

If this kit is comprised of the

EagleEye,
Socket Rocket (LM15A),
Wireless Transceiver

The light to enter, but left in the dark, being in the bathroom off ... if I'm brushing my teeth, I'm bathing turns off the light and dark leaves, even if the Eagle alfrente my eye ...

Important kit I have two of these and neither work for me to go to the bathroom on, no matter whether we are moving off and leaves us in the dark ...
thanks

The Eagle Eye will send an "OFF" command "X" minutes after it sees no more motion. So the Eagle Eye probably isn't seeing enough movement to remain triggered. You either need to move around more to re-trigger the Eagle Eye "ON" timer, or re-program the Eagle Eye for a much longer ON time and then use one of the X10 RF remotes (Palm Pad, Slim Line Switch, etc to turn the light off when you leave the bathroom.

Upgrading to an automation system will help you fix the problem but X10 seems to be out of stock of the CM15A.

Thanks for the replies.
I do not speak English and I can hardly understand the guidelines or instructions for these devices.

Well what is the proper configuration to make it turn on at night and not during the day, how far should I place the eye so it can capture the movements that are not extinguished before leaving the room.

Thanks again ...

The MS14A Eagle Eye Motion Sensor, can not be set to only detect motion when it is dark.
It does have a dusk dawn sensor in it that uses the next highest unit code address, but that is not going to do you any good.

Example. If your motion detection is on A1. When motion is sensed it sends an A1 On. Then after it times out it sends an A1 Off.
The dusk dawn sensor would then send an A2 On when it got dark and an A2 Off when it got light out.

The MS16A Active Eye can be set to only detect when it is dark. Though the bathroom lights shining on a MS16A may change how it worked.

Both the MS14A and MS16A are not really designed for occupancy detection, but if you set the no motion time out for a longer period. They maybe able to do what you want.

Thank you very much.

Fortunately I have an eye MS16A also that I have not tried, but as you might configure it, if indeed this in A1, but I want.

1. Turn on only at night
2. Do not turn off being with someone in the room.

Thank you very much for your comments and observations.

Brian, URO, I think the MS14A can be programmed for night only detection, here is excerpt from instructions:

To set whether you want the Motion Sensor to transmit EVERY time it sees motion or only at night:
Press the Unit/Off button once. The red light flashes. Then, (within 3 seconds) press and hold the House/On
button. The green light turns on. 3 seconds later the Motion Sensor reports its dusk/dawn setting as follows:
The red light blinks once if the Motion Sensor is set to detect motion at all times.
The red light blinks twice if the Motion Sensor is set to detect motion only when it’s dark.

To change this, Press the Unit/Off button once. The red light flashes. Then, (within 3 seconds) press and hold
the House/On button. The green light turns on. 3 seconds later the Motion Sensor reports its dusk/dawn setting,
as listed above. Release and immediately press the House/On button ONCE for operation at all times, or
TWICE for operation only at night. Hold the button for 3 seconds on your last press. The red light then
reports the setting with 1 or 2 blinks.

URO,

I can't explain this any clearer than the printed instructions above. The BOLD print is the specific intructions to make the MS14A night only detection. Maybe you can find someone locally who reads English to help you.

As far as where do you mount the Eagle Eye to see your movements in the bathroom...I have no idea, you will have to experiment. The size and layout of the room must be considered. You might try mounting the Eagle Eye on the ceiling, facing downward over the area you want covered? Remember the Eye detects movement. Standing in front of mirror shaving, or sitting on "the throne" may not produce enough movement for the Eagle Eye to detect. Again, you need to experiment yourself, it might require more than one motion sensor.

Thank you very much ...
if you play with the eye located in different areas to see if it detects motion ...
If I'm doing well setup, I tested with the a14, a16 proves to see how it goes ...

Thanks, Greetings from Panama

I missed that in the MS13A/MS14A manual.
Though if the bathroom light shines on it. Who knows what will happen.  ;)

Yes the comparison chart also indicated you can set it to night only.  :'

Oops! You are right! URO's bathroom will be a 1980's disco in slow motion.  rofl

Actually won't the HCUC+1 be the only address affected by the bathroom light?

URO really needs something to incorporate some conditional logic, or simply an overridding switch.

I don't know how setting the motion detection to Night Only. Will effect what happens when the lights go On.

I will have to check my spares and see if I have any motion sensors left to test with.

I don't have experience with the motion sensors, but I would think you would want to set it to either "Day" or "Night".
The sensor determines "Day" or "Night" by light levels. So, if the light is off, you want motion to turn it on for whatever period of time. Each time motion is detected, you want it to keep resetting that internal timer (which I'm pretty sure it does - as long as you have it set to do so both day and night). Once the light goes on, and the unit thinks it is "day," it might not register any additional motion, and therefore turn the light off after the first delay expires.

As I said, this is going based on how I would expect it to work (having never used one before).
Can anyone verify if that's how it actually works?

Yes, Good point, If programmed for "night only" detection,  what happens when the bathroom light is on...the motion sensor will probably ignore all motion when light is on. So URO needs some smarts in the system to work, or allow the detection to be during night and day.
