SSL not working
« on: December 15, 2011, 01:29:57 PM »

I have a new AP 10" which was working fine for the first 10 days or so.  Then the battery went dead dead dead overnight when I forgot to turn the AP completely off.  So, when I recharged it and fired it back up I can't log on to any website that requires SSL.  I get all kinds of messages that the certificate is unknown, untrusted, etc  These are websites like x10.com, Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, etc.  Also can't get to the Amazon app store.  Tried a hard reset....same problem.  What's next?   B:(

...__...  So I think I've figured this out.  Seems that when the AP goes dead, dead, dead, the date and time reverts to some arcane number like June 20, 2037.  If you don't reset this date to something more current, your browser looks at the expiration date of the SSL certificates that are presented from all the various websites, and "thinks" they are all 'way expired!  So fixing the date/time also fixes access to the websites.

Now to figure a way not to let the AP run out of juice.
