AirPad 7P, ICS and viruses/malware?

I am new to the Android world, but have a lot of PC experience. The whole shareware app thing bothers me from a security perspective. If I don't plan on doing any financial or email tasks on my AirPad, how worried do I need to be about hackers co-opting my tablet? What are other AirPad users doing (if anything) to protect themselves?

There are several anti virus apps from well respected companies.
Some are even free!

I know that X-10 can't endorse one or another, but are there any to stay away from? Presumably, I would be okay if I stick with a product from one of the big AV companies like Norton, Kaspersky or Trend Micro. What about malware as a separate entity? (As you know, one product hardly ever does it all.)

Thanks!  :)%

I don't work for X10 as many newbies presume.
The first app I installed was AVG and I would recommend all users to install at least one AV app.
I don't know any that I would say clear of.
However if you've found one or two you use for windows then there most likely is an Android version.
If your downloading apps from places other then the trusted markets your more likely to have issues.

Thanks, Tuicemen. I've been a Norton fan for decades - since back when AV was still predominantly shareware, and Peter actually associated with us mere mortals.

BTW, my comment wasn't meant to imply that you worked for X-10, only that they weren't likely to endorse any one product or another.
