X10 siren compatibility with Simon XT security panel
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:38:04 PM »

Does anyone know how to get the X10 powerhorn(13-398) to work with the Simon XT alarm panel? I bought the 13-398 siren from an internet site and the description said it only works with the Simon. Can't get it to work and how do u test it? Also, does date codes have any relivence in the installation? New to this. Thanks

Try setting the 13-398 House Code to the next one higher than the one used for the Lights.
Try Unit #9 on the 13-398.
This is all an educated guess from what the manuals indicated. As the unit maybe a special version for the Simon.

Normal X10 Powerhorns. Trigger on a one second cycle of All Lights On; All Units Off to the House Code. An On and Off cycle to the House Code Unit Code address also works with a standard X10 Powerhorn.

I looked at a few Security Systems web sites.
I did not see a 13-398 listed for a Simon XT. Are you sure the system can use it?
On an alarm. Do the lights connected to an X10 or equivalent lamp module flash On and Off.
If they do try setting it to the same address as the lights that flash.

I found the 13-398 on www.surveillent.com. Search for VEN11-GEE-13-398. It says Simon panel only. Do not know what else to do. Can you think of anything else I can Do. Thanks. I do not have any other X10 devices on my system. I,ve heard that changing the phase on my plug my do it. Thanks.

Try it in a few different locations.
You could be fighting some X10 power line signal problems. Like signal absorbers, noise makers or if you don't have a phase coupler between the two phases of the power into the home. A phase coupling problem.
Do you have any X10 Light Modules in the setup and do they work properly?

No light modules in th setup. Where would I get a phase coupler? Have tried it in many places. I appreciate your effort Brian.

If you can't find a place where it works.
Try the same outlet as the console is connected to. If it will not work there it maybe a completely different thing than power line signal issues.

OH one more thought. The AC power for the console is it on an UPS or any type of AC Power Backup Unit?  They are noted for messing up X10 power Line Signals.
