I have a few DS10A door/window sensors that out of the blue stop reporting in. I would push the test button and it would work for a day and stop reporting in again. Is there a standby or sleep mode or something I dont know about?   ???

There is no sleep or standby mode in a DS10A. They should report in around every hour. If the console doesn't receive a report in four hours it then flags a sensor error.

Which console are you using with the DS10As?

Have you verified the batteries are good?

I'm using a non-standard console, and yes there are fresh batteries in it. So there is no known reason a ds10a would stop reporting in other then bad batteries?
