Will these devices fit my needs?
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:53:35 PM »

Hi,
First off let me explain what I'd like to do:
I want to control four lights which are all attached to light switches. I was thinking of using the WS467 wall switches and replacing my current ones.

As for my PC I was thinking of CM15K with Activehome Pro. I was hoping it'll interact with EventGhost so I can control it simultaneously with XBMC.

Will the PC only send toggle light commands? Or will it actually force the light off or on (regardless of their current state).

Thanks!

PS. Is there a cheap way to get all this stuff together?

How is the WS467 different from the WS12A?

WS467 Toggle style. http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/WS467

WS12A Decorator style. http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/WS12A
Both are two wire dimmers and should only be used with incandescent type loads.

With the CM15A being reported as being close to rerelease. You may want to wait for the CM15A. It is a much better interface than the CM15K {CM19A with a TM751 combination.}

Great, thanks.

I used CFLs in most of my lights, what could I use in place of these switches? I want to be able to turn the lights on/off from the original light switch as well as on/off from computer when necessary.

WS13A or X10Pro XPS3 are a relay type and will control CFLs On and Off.
Can be turned On and Off with its local paddle or by AHP.
Both are decorator style. X10 does not have a toggle style relay switch.

Both require a neutral power connection in the switch box. So if your original switches do not have a bundled neutral in the switch box you could have a problem.
