I have installed the camera according to instructions. Funny this is: I can see what the camera sees using my laptop But not on my Desktop. The Search IP finds the camera and when I log in using admin and no password I get a blank screen! The camera is set up with a wired connection about 5 feet from my router. Another thing is that when I get the black screen and try to enter config it says no log in, when I log in with admin no password it still does not work. and to make matters worse The IPclient asks for a username/password I can not get it work at all.

Oh and I tried to set it up for wireless but as others have noted it doesn't work. Not sure what is going on but I need help as I have additional cameras on order and thinking maybe I should cancel that order.

Thanks for any help. I am willing to try anything.

John,

I am nearly certain that the camera is not working on your desktop due to some browser configuration issue. Are you using internet explorer? Did it try to load the Active X control the first time that you tried to view the camera?

You should not have any problem setting up wifi. If you cannot connect, try to do a system reset. This may fix both of your problems.

The really odd thing is it used to work. Any suggestions? I am running Win 8 on the desktop.

Where you running Windows 8 when they where working OK?
Did Microsoft do one of their famous to break things updates when this happened?

Updates are installed automatically, so it could be. Weird thing is Windows 8 tries to abort installing active x control when I try to install, but it will go to logon screen. I type in admin/no password and it gives me a screen with a blank video image. When I try to do anything it says not logged on.

One non X10 question:  Are you a Windows 8 tester, since it's not yet for sale?

I doubt X10 has any programmers testing. Using Windows 8 Evaluation Kits that vendors could use for testing.
So I should have said we will be having problems with Windows 8 on many fronts.

pghjohn; Since we don't have Windows 8 yet. It maybe hard to pinpoint the problems.

And the answer is! Use CHROME as your browser. I have 2 cameras working.. and both are WIRELESS. So much easier to set up. I will continue to try to get Explorer to co-operate but I suspect it will take some time.
Anyone know if it is possible to view more than one camera at a time. In eithre Chrome or Explorer?

Is IE 10 included with Windows 8?
Cameras may have not been tested with IE 10 yet.

On the other hand. I have tried repeatedly to get the POE cables to work without success. I have used various lengths of cabling still won't work. I have tried this on both Win 7 and win 8. These cables were plugged directly into my router a Verizon Actiontec I believe. Any thoughts?

I don't own any of the (X10) IP cameras... but I recently setup an H264 DVR and your problem sounds like a ActiveX security problem to me. Try IE, tools, Internet Options, advanced.... and then lower the security level as well as... allow ActiveX features to load per request. (You may need to download an activex to run the cameras on the desktop). I am assuming your router setup is OK.

Why is it that if I try to use a camera to look outside through a window and the sun is shining all I get is a total white screen? It is completely washed out. Any suggestions. I have tried setting contrast and brightness with no success.
