WS13A for pool light

Looking to control my pool light, I would like to confirm whether the W13A will work as a single pole setup, current switch has 3 wires, black wire, white wire and a ground. Comments appreciated

WS13A requires a neutral line. Your description describes line, load, and ground...no neutral.

okay, thanks for the info, is there an alternative switch that I can use,that has no dimming feature as the pool light is halogen and i do not want it to be dimmed

FWIW, halogen bulbs are a variety of incandescent bulb and ARE dimmable.  I don't know if your application is appropriate to allow the bulb to be dimmed, but a halogen bulb certainly can be installed in a flood light (for instance) with a module that does not have neutral (ws467 for instance).

Nope.

bkenobi beat me, but FWIW #2.


However 120V halogen bulbs are dimmable. If under 300W would play happy with a WS467 or WS12. Some levels of dimming on a halogen will have a negative effect on bulb life (like dimming only 10%) but dimming of > 40% will not have a negative effect, Dimming of >50% should prolong halogen life, just as it would standard incandescent.

If you are running any kind of low voltage halogen, you will need to pull a neutral if you want remote control.

OOPS!! Very sorry, the X10 dimmer switches are good for 500W. Also  Smarthome.com has Insteon/X10 switches which can handle 1000W, but might need a neutral.
