Newb to X10 needs help
« on: July 21, 2013, 11:35:24 AM »

I have an LED light setup on an aquarium and want to be able to turn it on and off with my iphone.
There is a 0-10 volt signal that goes from a dimmer to the driver of the LED's.
Right now I have a simpole toggle switch wired inline and when I flip the switch the lights go off.
I want to be able to do this with my iPhone.
If I wire a UM506 switch in place of the toggle and purchase a CM19A and a TM751, will this be all that is required
to work?

Many thanks

No you would not be able to control the LEDs with the devices you mentioned.
The UM506 will make and break the control signal as you thought.
The CM19A could send an RF command to the TM751 to then control the UM506.

The problem is. The CM19A is a USB RF send and receive transceiver. It needs both a USB connection for power and a computer or micro controller to send and receive data from the CM19A. Along with some software.

You will also need a way for the iPhone to access the equipment.

There are probably users doing iPhone control now and may give you some tips on what you will require.

Thanks,
I was more concerned that I would have all the x10 hardware that I needed.
I have the computer and iPhone already. And just need the appropriate software.
All I want the x10 to do is replace a simple toggle switch in my aquarium cabinet that I have to open the door and reach down int the cabinet for now.
I wanted to make sure I could simply break the connection as I would with the toggle.

You may want to see if you can find appropriate software and what its hardware needs are. Before committing to the CM19A and TM751.
The UM506 Universal Module can switch the 0-10 volt control voltage to your LED lights.

There are several iphone apps for x10 control.
Check the Thirdparty addons and software section for more info.
Also check the app store.
