We all saw this day coming. They announced last year that they were closing over 1,000 stores.
It's really a shame to see them go. As a kid, I visited Radio Shack at least once every couple of weeks to buy parts and gadgets with my allowance. Not only is it something I grew up with, but it's also the only (sort of) small parts electronics distributor that still does individual counter sales around here, so it's still viable for me when I need something fast. That said, compared to any internet supplier, the selection is terrible, the prices are at least quadrupled, the salespeople are rude and clueless and get in my way, and I often have to wait at least 10 minutes to check out while a person who doesn't speak English is being sold a cell phone. I'm sad to say that I won't miss them.
