2006, X-10 pro mini controller PHC01 and XPS3 Module
« on: October 26, 2015, 12:16:02 AM »

These are used to run my pool light. One of these are not getting the signal. The Module "Master Wall Switch Module with AGC for Single and 3 way Application. This is also wired to a GFI on the side of the timer box. The breaker light switch works fine manually. The controller plugs into a receptical in the house. I can't find a replacement module on-line so I think it has been discontinued, but there has to be something else. The module has four areas for wiring. I use 3 of the 4 spots Black, Red, and both neutrals which connects to the GFI receptical . The controller lights up when pushed on and off but doesn't pick up the signal to module. This hasn't worked for 5 or 6 years. I just want to fix it now. Would appreciate someone's help. I am not a electrical person but I can replace device. The manual is very vauge.
Thanks

The X10 MC10A, X10Pro PMC01 or PMC01B {black case}; have the same functions as the old PHC01.
Did the setup ever work or was it always not working?
You may have a power line noise maker, signal sucker or phase coupling problem. If the XPS3 is on one of the homes phase and the controller on the other phase.
You may want to rotate the House and Unit Code dials on the modules a few times. They have been known to make poor connections when the modules get older and have a different address than the dials indicate.

Here are some great tutorials on X10 troubleshooting.

Tried your suggestions. But no success. Yes it did work 5 or 6 years ago. I ordered a replacement switch module for XPS3 it is now the XPS4. TOTAL PRICE $50.00 from X10.com. So I will see if it will work.
Thanks

I have had GFI's block X10 signals. Others are fine. The ones I had that blocked were old (late 90s?). All my newer GFIs play nice with X10. BTW the old GFIs used large ferrite toroid's to sense the current. The newer ones use tiny ferrite rings.

The XPS4 got a good review here. http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=29281.0
Keep us in the loop on how it worked and if the problem is gone.

Got the XPS4 all good but the plug that I used for the controller doesn't work so now I will use one the outside plug next to the house. Thanks for everyone's help!

Glad it is working for you.
If you want to troubleshoot further. You may have a phase coupling, signal sucker or power line noise maker.
Jeff's Troubleshooting Tutorials I linked to earlier are great.
