For decades I have been using Plato Smartlink (Houselink) to control X-10. It has the best GUI I have seen anywhere. Unfortunately, it will not install on Windows 10 64 bit. I bought a used Windows 10 32 bit laptop. Despite hours and hours working with an experienced Board member, I cannot get it to work. It works fine on my Windows 7 laptop. I had to convert the 3 floppy disks to 3 windows folders.
I had to buy a serial to USB adapter which works fine on COM2. On Win 10 32 bit COM2 appeared to be open. It may be in use and not show it as there was an error message about COM2. When I first tried to set the COM port, COM4 came up as possibly open. Unfortunately, COM4 is in use on Win 7.
Has anyone been able to get Plato to work on Win 10 32 bit? Are there any other software/hardware controllers with as nice as Plato?
