OFF grid windmill
« on: July 27, 2021, 03:14:33 PM »

I saw this windmill today and just had to send picture to Tuicemen, knowing he has off grid solar but not sure if he got wind power yet.   Looks like an easy design to build!

I've seen the half-barrel style windmills, but not the snow shovel windmill...agree, ingenious at heck

If I bought more snow shovels to build one of those, climate change would make it snow more so I needed them to shovel the snow with.

Now, if you could invent a wind powered snow shoveling machine I'd be very interested :)

Although my explanations may not be exactly clear, I do hope for slightly less cloudy.

If anyone is REALLY interested in building their own windmill, I will send you my precision engineered 10 foot diam blades from mine - for shipping cost and a few cases of beer!  Was a double set of 3 blades, one set behind the other set for super high efficiency, from about a 1980 Popular Science magazine.  Aerospace aluminum to fiberglass blades.  They worked great!  I can't throw them in the trash!  Direct drive a simple AC motor or DC pm for batteries.

I do have a small wind turbine however I don't get sufficient  wind here unless it is storming and then it is to much for it and I have to enable the brake. :'(
I had thought of making a larger turbine but seeing the poor wind speeds here I shelved that idea.
