CM15A stops working then works after a few day unplugged
« on: May 19, 2005, 10:01:57 PM »

I too am frustrated with the CM15A.  I noticed that I can
program it and have it working for a few days.  Then
suddenly the timers don't work.  When I reconnect it to my
computer the USB is not recognized.  If I leave it
unplugged for a few days and reconnect, then everything
is ok as if the unit reset itself. Why is this happening?
What is the fix?  Should I removed the batteries if that is
somehow the issue?  I have been reading the forums and
it seems  a lot of people have similar problems.  By the
way this is my 3rd unit.  I RMA'ed the first 2.  I would
appreciate any suggestions. I am not running macros. I
am just controlling lights on powerlinc 2 way dimmer
switches.

Return it for a full refund and purchase a
real product like the 1132CUP.
The CM15a is a great idea but is very
poorly designed, and the software is very
buggy.

Wow, you get a few days. What are you
complaining about? But seriously, check to
see if you have a "diagnostic" unit. They
last about 2 months between crashes.

I had the same prob - AH sent me a new
CM15A and so far so good. Also on my bad
unit flags didnt work at all, they work
fine on the new unit.
I did notice one thing so far if i setup a
macro with more than 1 delay in it,,, it
will not work properly. eg. set cam to
preset 1 delay 30 sec then preset 2 delay
30 sec then preset 1 (This will not always
work) sometimes it goes to the first preset
and thats it, doesnt run the rest of the
macro.
I have found a way around this - I made up
3 macros triggered by the same sensor, the
second and third macro have a delay start.
This meens that 3 macro trip at the same
time 1st puts camera in preset 1, second
macro has a 30 sec delay them puts cam in
preset 2 third has 1 min delay and puts cam
in preset 1 again - this works but put that
in the same macro amd its flaky at best..
