Batteries life on motion sensors
« on: July 17, 2005, 08:14:29 PM »

Hi, all,

How long does the battery last on the
motion sensors?

It should be triggered twice a day,
considering the possibility of mantaining
it off during the day. (Is it possible?)

Flavio,
I've been getting a year to a year and a
half on alkaline batteries. I prefer to
change them on about a one year cycle. I
haven't pushed any of my sensors until the
batteries went dead. They may go longer
than one year. I haven't run any serious
tests.

I have replaced mine once in 2.5 years so
far but second set still going strong.  It
is a lot longer than I expected and I don't
use cheap batteries.

FYI

I have one important RF motion detector that
I check daily. So far, after eight months, I
am still getting reliable reports from this
detector, on the original batteries.

I would recommend replacing the batteries
once a year and only using good quality
alkaline batteries.
