I have a "One for All" Universal Remote that
supports X10 Home Automation.
Unfortunately, I can not control any modules
with it.  I have the latest Active Home
Pro.  Can anyone help?!

Make sure that the remote is on the correct
house code to match the modules. In the AHP
program. Tools. Hardware Configuration. Make
sure that the house code you are using is
set to be tranceived. Frequently it defaults
to not being tranceived.

Icepick: I think most "One for All" remotes
that support X10 use an IR format instead of
the standard X10 RF command. You'll need an
IR Transceiver (model IR543) to use that
remote to control your X10 modules.

Icepick:  X10 Pro is correct.  You need an
IR543 to use a One4All remote with X10.  I
have the same setup and it works great!
When I first got my IR543 I had problems
with my TV interfeering with it, but I seem
to have resolved that problem.

One added benifit of using the IR543 is
that you can send separate Address and
commands so that you can group the commands
(A1 A2 AON will turn on A1 and A2
simultaniously).  It will also allow you to
microdim.

One thing to note though is each unit code
must be assigned to a separate button
(pressing 1 & 2 will not sent unit 12 but
units 1 and 2).  Units 1 thru 10 are
assinged to the numer buttons, but units 11
thru 16 must be manually assinged.  I have
the procedure for doing this if you want it.

I'll take you up on your offer.  Please
provide me with whatever info you have to
use on the One4All.  My model is the 8910,
and I will be going to Radio Shack this
weekend to buy the IR543.  Thanks Again!!

Roger H: I have the X-10 UR24A learning
remote that I use with an IR Transceiver.
Can it be used to control units 11-16? How
do you manually asign the remote to do this?

The following worked for my URC 8017.  It
might work for a 8910 otherwise talk to
One4All tech support.

For X10 brand remotes, I gather codes 11-16
are already programmed to the play, pause,
Ffwd, Rew, Rec and Stop keys (I am not sure
code is assigned to which key).  I hope
this helps.



To program:
1. Tap the DEVICE key
2. Hold down SET until the red light blinks
twice then release
3. Press 9-9-4
4. Tap the SET for one blink and release
5. Enter the 3 digit advanced function code
6. Press the button that you wish to assign
the function to the red light should blink
twice

My X10 UR24A remote does not work in the IR
mode for units 11-16 using Play, Stop, etc.
Maybe the newer remotes they're selling now
will do that.

My X10 UR24A remote does control units 10-16
in the RF mode. I just press 1, 4, On, and
viola! Unit 14 comes on.

The above RF method only worked with my
RR501 RF Transceiver. It would not work
using the CM15A Computer Interface. The PC
does display received RF commands in the
Activity Monitor, but it only changes the
status of the Active Home Program, not the
device iteslf. Using the RF Remote to
trigger a Macro does the same thing. I have
tried the unplug, remove batteries, wait and
replug scenario for the CM15A which did not
help. Any suggestions?

O.K., after reseting the CM15A, I did "Clear
Interface Memory," then "Download Timers and
Macros." The RF remote now controls the
macros I've set up. Does the CM15A only work
with RF commands if they have a macro? Do I
need to set up an On and Off macro for each
device that I want RF control? The RR501 RF
Transceiver controls units directly from RF
commands without the need for macros.

Tom:  Macros should be triggered by either
powerline or RF commands.  There are
several things to consider though for using
the CM15a as a transceiver though.

First of all make sure that the housecode
you are using the CM15A with is marked as
transceived.  In Auto transceive mode it
will only transceive housecodes for which
you have modules declared AND you DON’T
have a transceiver (ex RR501) declared.

Secondly, the newer revisions of software
don’t transceive commands for which a macro
has been set.  For example if you have a
macro triggered on A5-ON, then A5-ON will
not be transceived (the macro will run
though), but A5-OFF will be transceived.

I just received my IR543 and setup my
Logitech Harmony 688 remote control.  It
works great.  You can even set the Harmony
remote to turn on and dim your lights while
it is turning on the tv, satellite, stereo
etc.  Thanks for the info.

Tom H. Yes that gem seems to be not too well
known. Older software had all codes enabled.
I personally feel that too many RF codes
hoses the cm15a or at least the early ones.
