Powerflash and CM15A
« on: August 08, 2005, 11:20:36 AM »

I have a powerflash connected to a driveway
sensor. I have the powerflash set to mode 3.
Here is the problem. When the powerflash
sends the ON command, my CM15 is programmed
to sound a chime and turn on a floodlight.
The problem I believe is that when the
contact from the driveway sensor opens, the
powerflash sends the OFF command and
sometimes steps on the CM15A sending the
chime and floodlight commands over the power
line. Is there any way to avoid this
collision? I have programmed a 5 second delay
into the macro but the problem is that the
contact closure from the driveway sensor can
be long or short. Can the power flash be
configured to only send an ON and not the OFF?

Thanks,

Joe

cm15a is suposed to have collision detection
and then resend mashed data. The addrsss of
the chime and light modules isn't the same
as the powerflash is it? Will look at some
hacks to see if I find anything.

Brian,

No, the powerflash is D1, The chime is F1 and
the lights are E1 and E16. I can program the
relay closure time of the drive alert. If I
set the drive alert to put out a 5 second
relay closure, then it seems to work most of
the time. I think this is because it gives
the CM15A time to execute the macro before
the power flash sends the off command.

Thanks for the reply, this board seems to be
dead lately.

Joe

It’s evident everybody is happy with the
cm15a and AHP or just plain moved on; this
should make X10 very happy, to much
activity on this forum(usually negative)
it’s not good for business.

Sounds like you may have the answer. Giving
the cm15a enouth time to process.

Carmine:  It is summer time and most of us
don't want to spend too much time inside
tinkering with AHP.  Fortunately my
diagnostic unit has been running flawlessly
and I haven’t touched my CM15A since I
upgraded to 3.187 two months ago (I have it
running disconnected from my PC).

Roger That is a good sign. Maybe I can take
mine back out of the box.

Thanks for the replies guys, I found a
solution, I just trigger the macro on the OFF
event and ignore the ON event. Seems to work
OK. I wish I could report that my diagnostic
unit was flawless. My porch light keeps going
on and off (only at night) I have no macros
or timers to do that. It just does it. I
havent had time to troubleshoot it but I bet
it is some bug with the night time condition.

Joe:  With regards to your porch light, do
you have a motion sensor on the same house
code on the unit before the porch light (16
is considered before 1)?  If so, your
problem is probably that the light sensor
inside the motion sensor is detecting light
from a different light and causing the
porch light to switch off and on.

Joe,
Is your porch light set to A1?  If it is and
you have a motion sensor with week batteries
it could be sending the on an off codes. I
have found that the motion sensors reset to
A1 when the batteries go bad. If they
recover at all the motion sensor starts to
send a1 on and a1 off. I had this problem
with my front light and it drove me crazy
for a while.
