I recently did a fresh install on my
computer (XP). I installed AHP and it
launch without any problems. I then added
my smart macro plugin, then it relaunched
and asked for my registartion code. I found
it and entered the wrong number the first
time. Second time entered it correctly and
the program crashed before it could
compeletly register online. (I have error
reporting enabled) Every time I try
launching AHP it shows me the XP error
report and closes my program. I happened to
have an AHP update stored on my drive so i
thought to try it. no dice. same problem.
even after 3 uninstalls followed by
registry cleanup, then restarts and
reinstalls, same problem. I love the
software but I haven't been able to use it
for a while. Luckily I have my macros and
timers in my interface from my previous OS.
Any advice? I'm getting ready to make an X-
10 purchase that will require me to program
additional smart macros...

David: What error message are you getting
when you start the program? Do you have the
ATI Remote Wonder software?

OK, this is wierd, but also good. I noticed
you had an update while I was on the forum
last night writting the previous complaint
so I installed it. Still crashed. After I
launched the program today to get the error
code to you the program no longer crashes.
Wish I could've given you the error code to
help you further solve issues like I had
for future customers. The only problem I'm
having now is smart macros is not accepting
my registartion code. I will email you guys
direct on this issue as to not disclose
private info on the forum. Thanks for you
help. This forum is always very resourceful.

Ok I figured it out from your post. Yes I
HAD ATI Remote Software for my USB TV Card
launching at startup. Remote Wonder
randomly crashed last night for the second
time, so I pulled it out of my startup
manager and restarted. This must be why AHP
didn't crash when I launched it. Hope this
was helpful in some way.

I wrote yesterday with a problem with my
Active Home unit. It seems that it cannot
make the connection between the control
module and the USB port on my PC. In other
words, my PC doesn't recognize the USB
device. I have used the USB port for other
things and I know that it works with them.
Why won't my PC recognize the module?

David: Do you have the new version (Mar 9,
version 3) of the ATI Remote Wonder software?
Something they have in their new
configuration can cause a conflict with X10
software. If you have any previous version of
the ATI software, installing AHP again after
the Remote Wonder software is installed
should work.

Alan Coleman: Unplug your ActiveHome
interface from the USB port, unplug it from
AC power, and remove the batteries. Connect
it all again and it should work. Let us know
if it doesn't.
