I have a problem with my brand new Protector
Plus Security System, model DS7000, when I
arm the system the manual says it should beep
once for confirmation, but mine keeps
continously beeping, I've checked every
sensor, I've tried only hooking up one sensor
and arming it to see what would happen, and
it keeps continuously beeping after I arm it
until I disarm it. My problem isn't answered
in the trouble shooting area of the book
either. What is the problem! Thanks Paul King

You can buy the magnets to add to your door
window sensors.  The cable from the sensor
to the transmitter is about five or six
inches I would say.

Bill Read

No, the transmitter doesn't need to be
plugged into a wall outlet. And yes, you
can connect several sensors to a single
transmitter. Just connect the sensors in
series (end to end), then connect one
terminal of the first sensor and one
terminal of the last sensor to the two
leads from the transmitter.
My house was prewired for an alarm system.
I installed magnetic sensors in the doors &
windows, and connect 7 sensors to a single
transmitter.  Only problem was "cant tell
which window is open". I bought more
transmitters for that reason.
PS wire length is not a problem. The run
from my central point to each sensor was
well over 50 ft. with 26 ga. wire, so
distance doesn't seem to be a problem.

YEs it does work when the power is down. It
will sound the alarm on the console (from
battery backup)& dial the numbers
programmed. The only thing it will not do is
turn your lights off & on because of loss of
electricity. Hope this helps you.

Will, there are no pin codes, BUT, you can
hide the consol, and keep the remote like
maybe in a draw where you know where it is,
On the door and Motion modules, there is a
delay option where you can get to the
remote and disable the system, but if you
don't disable after (x) secs. it sounds the
alarm and calls you, Also i found a nice
feature, (Away) and (Home) Where you select
away it turns on all motion and window/door
contacts, when you selet home it only turns
on door and window contacts to allow you to
more freely around your home without
triping the alarm!
Also it might be a good idea, to set the
phone dialer to call your apartments
support, along with your work and or cell
phone and maybe a friends that lives near
by!

sharad,
x10 main console requires 110v 60-hz all
other sensore work off batteres. so you
really need a 220v to 110v step down
transformer and you are in business.

dallas

it cuide be used out side but i dont thant
that is safe!!!

jc

Remember the sensors are battery powered for
at least a year, and the console's battery is
good for about 20 hours (see the manual).
Only potential problem is that if there is no
heat (power failure in eth heater), the
batteries will wear out faster. But
otherwise, no problem.
I know, it happened to me during the ice
storm of 98

jc

Well, you can read the manual, it can be
downloaded from X10.
There is a battery in the console. Good for
20 hours. If the power failure is longer than
that, you have other things to worry about.

If you attach the screamer to the UPS on
your computer it will work.  All the rest
except the lights in your home will not
work.  In any event if you have a good dog
that will fill in any cracks in your home
defense.

As Always,

Prices and quality.. for what you get and
for the quality and ease of installation..
you will not find a better company to work
with or more options.. and there working on
new items all the time...

I have mounted my 2 sirens inside the soffet
vents.  They cant be seen, but the sound is
pretty well unobstructed.  They can be heard
easily from the street, or from the rear
alley.  The neighboor behind (across the
alleyway) can hear it when he is outside.

Don C

If the metal is non-magnetic (aluminum,
brass, copper) there will be no problem.
Steel will 'sap' the magnetizism from the
magnet! and it will fail.

WTT

We have 10 zones/signals monitored.  The
first 8 show on the front panel. The next 8
do not have an indicator light.  So the
windows and doors get the first 8.  Two
sets of magnets can cover two windows with
one sensor.  We have the system call our
cell phone as one of the numbers.  To exit
with delay open the exit door first.  Then
hit the reset button on the sensor and then
set the alarm, leave and close the door.

If you can catch them on sale, I recommend
the 110 decibel siren. The big one with 4
openings. I put 2 in every room and garage.
Plus 1 at each vent on ends of house .Trust
me, you do not want to be in there when they
fire off, it will hurt your ears big time.
To me, if they get in, they'll not want to
stay in. I find the smaller siren, and the
console alarm totally inadequate for the job.
