The problem I face with my X10 security
alarm I recently installed in my house is :
When I am away from home and I already have
put the alram to "ARM AWAY", for some
strange reason its energised and begins
beeping and also calls my mobile telephone
number I programed it to do so.
I checked all window/door sensors and motion
detectors and they look ok.
The system for some strange reason trips and
calls.
Please anyone can let me know what the
problem might be?

First check the Zone lights that came up
when alarmed was triped, that'll give you
an idea of were the problem lies.
If it checks out that the "zone" is a
sensor, put the sensor back swithc in the 2
position ( less sensitive ) and try a test.

I had a similar problem and it turned out my
motion sensor was picking up movement my
celing fan was causing.

Last week I was working in my home office
with the alarm un-armed.  For some strange
reason the base unit called my cell-phone,
no alarm was going off at all.  I continue
to get annoying trips during the day when
no one is at home.  Ready to purchase a
system that works!!!

Yep I had to return mine 5 times (base unit)
before I got one that worked everything
appears ok now, and those motion detectors
are useless when set to the two step
position better be sure by walking by and
testing it before you trust your house to
it!!! I was able to actually walk up to mine
and take the batteries out without it going
off.

I've had my system set up since January
2005. In June I got a call that the alarm
trip at approx 45 minutes after it was
armed. It happened again one month later, 45
minutes after it was armed. Tonight it went
again, 45 minutes after it was armed. When I
got to the shop, the sirens were not
sounding, though the light was on. How long
does the alarm sound when trip? It takes me
8 minutes(at the speed of light) to0 get to
the shop from my house. When I looked at the
base unit to see which zone had tripped, all
of the lights were off. Actually when I
arrived at the shop, I did not hit the
disarm on the remote. I unlocked the door
and entered...tripping the alarm and the
base immediately dialed out.

Something is causing the base to dial, but
not trip the sirens and in two cases, never
showed a zone light on the base.

Any answers?

Your unit might be defective that's what it
sound like if the alarm goes off it should
indicate the zone that was violated if not
it has to be the hardware.

One other thing folks is that small critters
can trip these motion detectors, had a
friend that didn't know it but had a few
mice. The mice were tripping the alarm. One
way to see is to take about 1/4" of tape and
place it along the bottom of the motion
detector lens test it by walking by to make
sure it still trips, this will make your
system immune to small critters and
shouldn’t have any negative effect on
anything over say 3 feet. You may have to do
a little expermentation with the width but
While working on the mice problem there
haven't been anymore false alarms. Try it
works!!
