New DS7000 will not work?
« on: December 05, 2005, 07:19:32 PM »

I just received my new DS7000 over the
weekend. I installed the 2 Keyfob and 2
SH624 remotes to the unit. With the SH624
remotes instead of getting one beep like the
Keyfobs, I get a constant beeping until i
take the unit off of program mode. Yes, I
tried pushing the button to generate a new
code. Same thing. The buttons for arming and
disarming do seem to work.

Now the real problem. I installed 10 window
door sensors all over my house and they
registerd correctly, and beep the unit when
open/closed in run 2. However, when I go to
arm the unit either I get a fast beeping or
I get a slow beeping. I cannot bypass in the
fast beep mode, but I can bypass in the slow
beep mode. The unit does not show an
indicator for the zone that is not working.
Matter of fact there are only 8 LED's?
What gives? Do all of the sensors need to be
set to minimum or maximum? I am at a loss. I
thought this thing would work out of the box.

Hi....PROBLEM 1:  Move the Min/Max on the
_SH624 to Min for instantaneous arming (one-
beep confirmation), Max for arming with a 60-
second delay (the slow beeping confirmation
of the delay mode)

OK...Problem 2: If you have ten sensors
installed in your house, then the console
must show 10 registered zone when you have
the sliding switch in INSTALL (Press the
BYPASS button to see zones 9-16).  Most
likely you have more than 10 sensors
registered in the console.  It happens to
most of us when we first try to set up the
system. Remove the batteries and AC power,
then re-register the sensors...it takes only
a few minutes.  Remember, if you have motion
detectors to turn them to face the wall so
that you don't get multiple registrations
while you walk around the house from sensor
to sensor. Usually, this system does pretty
much work right out of the box but the most
common error is multiple registration of a
sensor or motion detector.  Good luck.

You guys are great thanks.

Yes, if you arm the remote while the remote
is set to max, the console beeps for 60
seconds and then the system arms.
I am now going through sensor by sensor and
reinstalling everything now that I
understand how this works!!

One thing I am noticing, especially on
windows, the magnets are pulling themselves
to each other and disloging the tape. I
noticed this on 3 of my windows/doors. If it
continues I may have to actually screw them
in or use super glue!!

x10 should update the manual to let you know
that if the remote is set to max the thing
will beep for 60 seconds. This thing has
driven me crazy!!

Storm...if you own the home screw them in!
If you don't and/or for glass, pros
recommend using clear silicon sealant around
the edges of the magnets to lend a more
permanent hold.  I rent so I use 3M exterior
extra heavy duty double backed tape (not
foam core).  This stuff will easily hold for
a few years.

Thanks Iceblue, we own the home but most of
our windows are metal/weather type of panes
on the outer edges both on the window and on
the frame where the sensors mount. If I
continue to have the problem, I will get
what you recommended. By the way, I just
tested my alarm with two seperate sirens,
pretty decent!! The lights go on and off.
The systems works.
Now I am going to program the dialing and
messaging.

yourselves? X10 stuff is a bunch of crap,
nothing ever works, they are all %
$#@*$up!!.....oh wait a minute, I'm stealin
scootchies lines :) Good to see that people
with the X10 systems that ARE working speak
up. If you have ant problems, this is a
good source of info to resolve them. I too
am VERY pleased with my setups and
recommend to anyone who wants affordable
automation/security systems to look into

Its working great. I am getting a great bang
for the buck, especially in the home
automation end and active home pro with all
the software.
