Reading from "Media" on shared drive
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:19:47 AM »

I have my drive for my media (snapshots, stills, video) on a shared drive samba drive on my linux machine. It's mapped to drive V: on my local computer  AHP has no problem writing to the drive but when I attempt to look at snapshots or video recorded to it I get the error "A H P has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Error Signature
AppName:  activehm.exe AppVer: 3.0.0.202 ModName: msvcr71.dll
ModVer: 7.10.3052.4 Offset: 000029c1

Attached is the dump file.. it's in xml

That's because AHP creates the My Images folder on the C drive during its intall routine.  Unless you are able to do heavy duty Registry editing so AHP will always point to the shared drive, you are out of luck.

If you are running AHP on Linux with an emulator, you are really out of luck. If AHP is running on an XP machine and the shared drive is on a Linux box, unless you are willing to hack the Regisiry to tell AHP not to look on C:, forget putiing your camera pics on any other drive but C:

I'll try registry editing.  It just makes it easier to put my images and video on the web with the shared drive.  I'm running it on XP on another box no WINE involved.

Just remember to back up the Registry before you edit it. Windows will warn you sometimes. I did a Registry hack to tell Windows that My Documents is on another physical drive (so if I reformat C: I don't have to back up My Documents.  Makes life easier.).
