Strobe light
« on: June 11, 2006, 10:40:29 AM »

Has anyone tried hooking up a strobe light mounted outside so the FD/PD can find the house faster? I checked with support and they advised they do not have and are not looking into such a thing. Seems it would be easy to make one using strobe like the type on life vests (battery powered). I know the wired systems come with such a strobe. http://

Get something like this:

Strobe light from Spencer's Gifts

And stick it on a code that goes "ON" and stays "ON" during an alarm condition.
Should work just like turning on any other light. Build a box for it with a couple
of mirrors angled at 45-deg to either side so it can be seen by someone coming
up the street from either direction. Add a red filter in front so it shows as an
"emergency light" rather than a bright white annoyance.
