Post by: nswint on September 15, 2006, 11:01:07 PM
A newer version of this installation is on the server.  Please re-download this installation.

Can you guys push down the right version to the order purchase/download system?

Tech Support emailed me the install file.  Works... just having problems with RF Reception of the door/window sensors and remote.  My W800RF picks them up just fine

Tuicemen   I had the same problem when I went to down load and found out that when X10 emailed me they included the file I needed right in the email. The version that loaded updated AHP to version 3.206

Send me a PM if you need the install file. it should work using your order number.

Actually I Wasn't expecting an Answer  just to maybe open someones EYES at X10. It has been stated that "many there read the forums"! I know too many don't reply! :( :( :( ::) ::)

I would have hoped this problem was solved by now as The information was brought to the attention of the people looking after this!
In any case you can E-mail support (support@x10.com) or service (service@x10.com) and they will send you the program ;)! State your order number and the problem!

Thanks Tuicemen, I have already sent an email to support after reading the posts in this forum.  Some of your posts in other forums have helped me solve a few minor issues that I have had so far.  Been messing around with x10 stuff for years, just received some new product, interface, camera, software etc.  So far quite happy, a few bugs but generally everything is ok,I haven't tried interfacing the security and automation stuff yet which was the main reason for purchasing the new stuff.

Rant Starts Here!!!
Most of the problems I see in the forums are people just not following instructions and unreasonable expectations.  I have worked with commercial controls for over 20 years, all commercial control systems have just as many issues as X10 and cost a !@#$% of a lot more!!!
Ok I'm off my pedestal!!

??? Guess what message I got when installing my onalert module.  No, really....guess.

Thanks to the info here, I found out that tech support is not open 24x; the tn# is 1-800-675-3044 (cool, someone still has a toll-free service number!)

Everything else is cool; kinda get freaked a little by all the bugs posted, but the comment re: 'automation is not a perfect science' was on the nose.

Not emailing the correct version of a software program for months?  Simply Dilbertian.

Is there anyone who could email me a copy of the link to the file to resolve this problem?  I really would like to wrap this up today (Sunday) instead of having to wait for tech support to return manana.

Good grief..I can't believe that this problem still continues. I ordered the USB controller with software and all plugins on a special last night. I already have the controller and AHP software but just wanted the Security program basically. I thought it was because my main AHP software was old. I tried for a couple of hours trying to completely uninstall the software by using special uninstall programs, cleaning the registry manually etc, but my original registration info would not go away. I now see that this is just an obnoxious problem. I mean if they send you a download link why on earth would it be an old one?! I emailed tech support so we will see how long. I am sure they would have a much easier time if they put a correct link in the email.
I hope this program somewhat works. I have a bunch of X-10 sensors that I am not using right now mainly because of the lack of integration. I hope to now get some use out of the stuff.

I'm having the same problem. Won't x10 fix the problem since so many people kept complaining?  ??? I should have looked at the forum before buying the product.

I sent email to techsupport@x10.com 2 days ago but there was no response. I really don't like to be held on the phone service.  >:( Either the problem gets fixed or we get refund.

Well, as of February 1, 2007 this problem still exists, and the two different people I talked to at x10 Tech Support seemed to be fully aware of it (had to call twice since they e-mailed to the wrong e-mail address the first time.)

Now that I have OnAlert installed I was having trouble figuring out how to create macros to activate/deactivate the security console.  When using the main "Help" it only gives info on ActiveHome Pro and not the modules.  When I go to the "Plug-ins" drop-down I can access Help for each of the plug-ins except for one, which of course is for OnAlert  :P  If I select "About" there is a "Help" button on the About Screen, but that just takes me to the main "ActiveHome Pro" help.

Is anyone able to access "Help" for "OnAlert" on their system?  I'm sure I'll find the info I need in these forums, but was surprised that the Help menu link for OnAlert seems to be NULL.

You can get it here: Re: Help file (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=10167.msg58678#msg58678)

Thanks Puck.  It looks like even the "Newer Version On Server" of OnAlert is missing the Help File (it actually has a ahp_security.chm help file, but it is just a copy of the Smart Macros help file).  I grabbed the file and copied it over ahp_security.chm in the ActiveHome Pro directory of Program Files.  I can access it by double clicking on the file but it is still is not accessable through the Help Menus in ActiveHome Pro itself.  It looks like they could use some help with their Beta testing.

One of the many problems that still exist with this plug-in. There really is no excuse for some of these known problems not to have been addressed by now.

Try e-mailing customer service or call Customer Support: 800-442-5109 ,Technical Support: 800-442-5138
Although I e-mailed both customer service and support and received the file from both 1 day appart and only 2 days from sending the request! ::)
Also try ahpsupport@x10.com   ;)
Did You include your order number?
Seems like X10 lost all their Programmers! :( :o ::)

Just sent an e-mail to that one.  I just ordered this software and downloaded it last week only to get the same "newer version" problem.

It knows there is a newer version, why won't it just download it, or AT THE VERY LEAST INSTALL THE OLD ONE!

The link X10 is sending out is the link to the beta test file ::) Which I assume is no longer on the server!
Why this wasn't changed the minute they released  the saleable version it is beyond anyones Idea! ::)
The fact that they can't straighten this out makes me wonder if we'll ever see another update for AHP! ::)

Just sent an e-mail to that one.  I just ordered this software and downloaded it last week only to get the same "newer version" problem.

After several e-mails and no response, I sent an e-mail to 'mmallari' and he forwarded it on to the appropriate groups.  No response.  A couple of days later he forwarded on to supervisors.  No response.  A day or two later he contacted another level up.  Thursday afternoon I got a call, "how about I e-mail you the newer version?"  "That would be good."  "OK, I'll do that now."   And sure enough, I received the new installer about 5 minutes later, installed it last night and it worked.

So January 28th I received my registration code.  February 16 I could actually install the software.  Pitiful.

sdb

P.S.  The version claims to be from early Sep 2006.  It's only been 5 months, why should the web server be updated any more quickly than that?  LOL!

Tech support has no ability to solve this problem, though they can send you the right installer. Someone in the dev side needs to upload the newest installer executable to the right location on the servers and that will solve the problem. It's less than 5 minutes worth of effort to do. If they wanted to take another minute or two they could put the update installer on the public FTP site like I used to do.

As far as X10 technology is concerned, X10USA is the patent holder for the US and Canada, so no competitor could take over.

I suspect the  Newer Version On Server problem is due to the fact that X10USA has lost a lot of technical people over the last 10 months, so there's no one to handle the problem.

My advice is to e-mail and PM Michael Mallari michaelm@mail.x10.com until you get a proper response. People are spending their money to buy OnAlert, they deserve a response.  Don't bug him, nothing is going to change.

Michael is the most decent, friendly, helpful, accommodating person you'd ever want to meet - I've had MANY conversations with him over the past year. Did you ever consider that Michael himself is being 'stone-walled'?

Instead of constantly encouraging EVERYBODY to E-Mail Michael, why not look up the E-Mail addresses of a few key X10 Management personnel "higher up in the food chain"?

TTA,

This constant " Newer Version On Server" error problem has been going on for almost a year. It's totally unfair for new purchasers of OnAlert to have to jump through 500 hoops just to get the correct install file.

The only way to get anybody in authority at X10USA is to bug somebody.

Thank you for posting the e-mail addresses of Dave Rye and Alex Peder.  They are tip-top at X10USA, so they need to know about this constant error and fix it.

Folks,

I know there are frustrations sometimes with trying to get the software to work.  And I know that someone at X10 should see that these issues are resolved.  Unfortunately, trying to reach higher ups will not always work, as most of the time many of them are traveling and hardly back at the office due to hectic schedules.

In the event you need resolutions, I am always willing to take a few moments to help.  Feel free to let me know, and I will direct these issues to the appropriate departments for fixing.  As I work closely with many of hte managers of the various departments, I will make sure these issues are followed through to the best of my abilities.

Just know that I too am an extension of X10, and I am always willing to help.  Feel free to shoot your issues to me via email michaelm@x10.com and I will do what I can.

Have a great weekend everyone.

For EVERYBODY!!!!

PMing MMallari or e-mailing him (Michael Mallari [michaelm@mail.x10.com] or nothing will be done. If he does not reply, keep doing it.

Dan, please understand, I don't go out of my way to ignore people.  I too am a consumer (not just of X10 but of many products) and I expect to be treated fairly.  In return, I do the same for others who need help.  I've never intentionally turned anyone away, especially our customers.  They purchase with a certain set of expectations, and I want those expectations to be fulfilled.  I may not get back right away, usually due to having to run 3 depts, but I do my best to take care of these issues.  Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks, Mike.

I've already been taken to task by TTA and it was deserved.  He did search or and post both Dave Rye's and Alex Peder's e-mail addresses.

I don't have OnAlert or any of the add-ons because I don't need them, but I do feel the Newer Version On Server error has been going on for far to long with no resolution.

I am very new to this and just got the "newer version on server" error for OnAlert. If there is a file out there that someone can email then please send it to me at ageiger2@nycap.rr.com.

Thanks.

Earlier today I accidentally erased an email from a customer who had purchased the OnAlert plugIn, and was experiencing an issue.  If you had emailed me over the weekend and have not received a response from me yet, could you please re-send that request so I can assist?  Thanks.

Thanks,

I, too, have purchsed the 'whole enchilada' Active Home Suite and have not gotten the OnAlert Module to install.  Trying to call or email has not worked.  Would someone please send me the file via my email entropies@hotmail.com  I am well within the 30-day guarantee and I am about ready to send it all back (Although someone I doubt anyone would be available to give me an RMA)... the support here SUCKS!  X-10 also has problems with their gift vouchers.. hey lets get people to buy more stuff with phony vouchers that never work... and then never respond to any emails regarding that.

The previous content of this post violated the posted X10 General Forum User Etiquette policy and has been modified.

Unfortunately I also have this problem. I just ordered the entire ActiveHome Pro suite of software (every plugin, etc). I've already contacted Mike from the x10 community, but if anyone else can help send me a working version of the software, I'd appreciate it. I already have a registration code.

Thanks,

Davin

PS: I'm excited about finally getting into the x10/home automation area. Hopefully I can use and contribute to some of the knowledge in this community.

I just bought a 2nd ActiveHome Pro package, this time with all of the plug-ins and am having the same problem with On-Alert.  I have an email into customer support, but I guess it will be next week before I get a response.   :'(  Why can't they post it on the server?  Do they sell so few of these packages that they can deal with each customer one at a time?

I purchased OnAlert on 9/4/07 and still haven't used it because of this new version on server issue.  What a bunch of BS.

I sent emails but no reply.

What a crappy way to run a business

SFauto: Did you email the problem with the OnAlert server error and reference your order code number to support@x10.com  or service@x10.com ?

If you just replied to the email with the original links from your purchase (orders@mail.x10.com) it probably does not get seen.

O.K., I'm joining the "Newer Version On Server" club.  After downloading and trying to install the OnAlert plugin for AHP, I looked for a solution on this forum.
I was suprised to see how LONG this has been a problem. But anyway, I emailed the recommended person in support and got a reply.  Unfortunately, it wasn't from michaelm@mail.x10.com, it was from email]ericb@x10.com, and it wasn't the right file.  It looked like an automated reply:

Greetings!

Here is the Vanguard installer. Please rename it to vanguard.zip before opening. If you have any more questions, please reply to this email. Thanks for choosing X10!

Eric Boyd

ericb@x10.com

X10 Email Support

http://kbase.x10.com/

Of course, Vanguard is a security cam program and not the AHP plugin.
I haven't received anymore feedback from x10, so I was wondering if anyone with the right file could email it to me at ptsdds@yahoo.com?

 UPDATE!!!!
I was offered the file by another member(thanks!), but Michael Mallari did send the file today 10-19-07 after accidentally sending the wrong file earlier.
Thanks to everyone.

Hi drlodi please check you PM messages. This has been an issue for sometime now and I don't understand why it hasn't been fixed on X10's end. Maybe sometime in the near future there will be an update to AHP and/or some of the plug-ins and that will solve the problem. Here's hoping.

I cannot believe X10 has yet to resolve this problem.  I have sent emails to tech support but have not received an answer as of yet.  Could anyone please link me the file or email.  This is really ridiculous on the part of X10.  One thing is for sure I will not recommend this product to any customers, until X10 fixes this issue.
Thanks.

I contacted (800)675-3044 x2629 as recommended in an early post and I gave them my order number.  The rep on the phone emailed me the file right away and was actually on the phone with my while I installed the app to make sure it worked.

I retract my last statement, It looks like they have gotten their tech support reps up to speed in resolving this issue.  I guess the next step would be for X10 to fix the issue with the link, so that this is no longer a problem.

I emailed all those addresses ericb@x10.com, michaelm@mail.x10.com, support@x10.com, service@x10.com and finally got a response.  Eric Boyd sent me the file and I was able to install it.

I was wondering what is happening with that problem, it seem to be a long on-going problem. I think it should not be too hard to fix ? I guess they are not willing to fix it ... I'm new to X10 stuff and  I'm not very
impress so far by the support.

Perhaps X10 should look at getting volunteers to help out with their server problems, it works with the forum & wiki ! ;)

If they are aware, why didn't it get fixed at the end of 2006, not make purchasers sweat out getting the correct install file all through 2007. Having read through this entire thread, I would NEVER buy On Alert.

I'm sure your not the only one that feels this way Dan!
I PM X10 staff regularly about this issue! >:( :(
Not trying to defend X10 here but they have had a lot of movement with employees! :(
The few left that can do this fix are bogged down with other issues!

Server issues tend to be X10s main sore spot! The one used for Vanguard & AHP (MyHouse plug-in) was down for much of DEC. when people needed it the most! >:(
Perhaps users that are contemplating getting this Plug-in should Call to order and state,
"I was going to Order the OnAlert Plug-in but after reading about installation errors I'll wait to see a Post it the Newer Version On Server thread stating the issue has been resolved"  ;)
or state:
"If you Can't send me the install file instead of a link to it I don't want it!" ;)

Update Info for ahp_security.exe file.

In the past I have supplied the correct file listed above to solve the "Newer Version On Server" problem. It has worked for many users that have requested it. Just recently a few members here have requested the file and then have reported thatt hey still get the error message "Newer Version On Server". At this point I am wondering if X10 has perhaps updated something which now renders the file I have as old?

Would someone that has recently requested the file from me please PM me if you have received a working copy from X10. I would also like to know what version of software is reported by AHP after installing the security software. THANKS!

Well my ahp_security file used to work, but a change of computers meant I had to reinstall all my modules, all of them went well until...this one. I read most of the forum posts and decided an email to Mr Mallari may just help. Well thus far I have from my email client "The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect..." ergo emails to mail.x10.com are not working, at least right now. Maybe the servers have Memorial Weekend off ;). Any other ideas in the meantime would be welcome. Thanks

The barrage email approach worked.  I got a newer version which installed without issue.  I still have a serious AHP problem which I will post about elsewhere.
FWIW - I got a next day response from ericb@x10.com.  I'll share what I received if someone will explain how I should go about doing that.

Cheers.
