Brandon; The SH10A arrived today and I will
be playing with it this weekend. If you have
not read the following thread it may
interest you.
Is it a bird? Is it a cricket No it is a
Powerhorn Siren. I agree it sounds like an
over grown cricket in heat! Have you
triggered it from the manual key pad buttons
yet. It sounds nothing like a siren! Just
set the SH10A to a code you can toggle on
and off with the keychain or console buttons.

Although I would take it if it worked
properly (better something than nothing) as
far as full compatibility, I know, that
unit doesn't sound that good at
all . . . ., at least the 49-1000 unit
sounds pretty piercing like an ADT system,
just wish I could expand this without
having to engineer something. Does the
PH508 sound the same as this one?

Brian H

No; but not like what most would call a
siren. It has a two tone sound. When tripped
it sounds the higher tone on an ON if memory
serves me and the lower when an OFF is
received. Takes 2 to 4 ON OFF cycles on the
house unit code to trip it. My SH10A will
not even peep on the RS 49-1000 as the PH508
also will not.

Thanks for all the research Brian. I made
my external sirens work, but, I had to hook
my old RS 49-2551A wireless console back
up. It's a shame but it seems to work
better than the 49-1000. It will trigger
both the Powerhorn and the SS-300 Sonic
outdoor siren.

Brian H

The 49-1000 has some nice features, but one
of them is not controling powerhorns. Since
the powerhorns and the sonic SS-300 where
designed for the proper on off codes, I am
not surprised thay worked with the older
console.

Brian H

I see in the other messages that the 49-1000
will access appliance modules. Remember that
the appliance types don't respond to the
older RS or X10 DS7000 signals, as All Lamps
ON is not accepted by them. The All Units
OFF will turn them OFF if they are ON.

I just bought a plug'n power home security
system model 49-1000 and when I try to
enter the default pin to set it up, I get
ERROR.  I'm assuming I need to reset it
back to the defaults   Does anyone know how
to reset it?

Brian H

You mean 0 0 0 0 isn't working? Never tried
it but how about remove the batteries and
unplug it for awhile.

anonymous

nope, that doesn't work.  The manual says
to call radio shack to get it reset, I'm
guessing there is some type of reset code
or a combination of buttons to push.  There
is no reset button on it or inside it.
I'll have to call Monday.

Brian H

Guess so. Gee I thought all of them where
set to 0 0 0 0 from the factory. Maybe
someone was playing with it at the store. I
know that if you get into the menus the
reset all settings also resets it to the 4
0's

Anonymous did you find out how to reset
yours?  Mine just started having this issue
after having a working pin code for months.
