Pulled black battery lead from CM15 - where does it connect?
« on: November 09, 2008, 01:00:34 PM »

Hi Guys

I've managed to pull out the black battery lead from CM15 when removing the battery.

Can anyone advise where it should be resoldered?

Does it connect to the metal body of the USB terminal (I think I can see evidence of some solder and a pievce of cable there, though could be mistaken...)?

Any advice gratefully received.

I looked at both a very recent Date Code and an early Date Code CM15A. Both have the Black battery wire connected to the board between C9 and R18. Near the top edge of the board. The AC input pins are in that area also. Red lead is near the C9 R18 part of the board. Also both of mine have some RTV over both the Red and Black battery holder wire mount holes. Yes the Red is not too far from the Black but not next to each other just close.
I believe one of the threads on using an F connector external antenna mod. Has some internal photos that may show the approximate area.

Below is a photo I took some time ago showing the relative sizes of the CM15A and XTB power transformers.  It shows where the battery wire is connected inside the CM15A.  You may be able to see the broken end.

Thanks for the replies.

I can now see from Jeff's photo that my UK version has a completely different layout to your version, and the circuitry is installed inside a totally different enclosure (more like the CM11 enclosure).

My transformer is at the opposite end to the battery connections.

Yeah I kinda wondered about that when in you 1st post you mention the battery (singular).

...... when removing the battery.

I checked your profile and saw "Darlington UK" . What confuses me... is it isn't called a CM15A in Europe.... is it?

My mistake.

Just checked and it's stamped CM15.

Sorry to have confused you...
