Thanks for your responses. I used the link to create a print-to-file printer and it confirmed my suspicions. Not all of the events transmitted by the CM15A get into the Activity Monitor.
I have observed periods of time, up to 5 minutes, during which the Activity Monitor doesn't show anything on the screen and I know macros are executing and motion sensors are causing lights to stay on, turn on, and turn off. One of these time periods occurred when I was running a virus scan on the pc. It may be that the logging process interrupt, if it has one, has such a low priority that messages can't get through to AHP.
Both times that I've done a stare-and-compare with the Activity Monitor, both off of the screen and off of the printout, and the output of the CM15A USB port (traffic originating on the CM15A being sent to the pc), the Activity Monitor showed fewer events, i.e., not all of the messages sent to the pc make it to Activity Monitor.
To keep things somewhat simple, I looked only at traffic coming in to the pc and not at traffic being sent by the pc to the CM15A.
Compared with the logging capabilities of lots of different systems over many years of tech support, I have to conclude the the Activity Monitor is not a very robust logging system. Of course, given the price point of the AHP software and CM15A combination, I might be expecting too much.
I would caution anybody considering using the Activity Monitor for any purpose that might, at some point, involve lawyers, to be extremely careful how much credence to give the monitor.
I will continue my quest to track the monitored events from the USB port to the Activity Monitor and what file they live in when the pc is powered down.
